I’ve decided to head west in search of warmer weather and travel all the way around Kyushu. After driving to Osaka and taking the ferry to Shin-Moji, I’m continuing my journey through the island.

Returning from Satsuma-Sendai, I’ve arrived in the heart of Kagoshima City. Since it was a Friday night, the area around Kagoshima Chuo Station was buzzing with crowds. I chose to start my walk here, at the Shinkansen terminal marked by its iconic Ferris wheel, and headed toward the famous Tenmonkan district.

It’s quite a long walk to reach the center, but the changing scenery made it worthwhile. Once inside the Tenmonkan shopping arcade, I noticed a high number of international visitors. At the same time, the streets were filled with weekend revelers and plenty of touts—a classic, chaotic scene of a major entertainment district at night. Though it's still a bit chilly, it was an intense and vibrant walk after sunset, perfectly capturing the "hot" and energetic nightlife that tropical Kagoshima is known for.
