The thing that really sold me on Dyson Sphere Program was when I established my primary base in a new system, on an inner system planet, and started building my very first Dyson sphere with a slightly larger radius than the planet's orbit. The first time the ring of my initial sphere swept past my planet, dwarfing the whole world, I felt such a powerful sense of scale that I don't think any game has quite given to me since.
If you’re curious about the exact details of the distances between planets and stars: one AU seems to be only 40km, and a lightyear is 60AU or 2400km. This means the IRL earth would be about 5 light years across if it were dropped into a star cluster
Ive sunk almost 400 hours into DSP. Its a breath of fresh air when factorio is getting stale. You know youre in the end game when you start building a second dyson sphere to help complete your first one. If you want a good idea on what could be possible, I recommend Nilaus' video on the biggest sphere around a black hole, the time lapse is stunning.
maybe they should increase mission complete tech to 100,000 or a million white sci cubes, cause for a dyson sphere veteran, ending it at a small sphere in your home system, not leaving the home system or barely leaving it for only mining is such a let down for me, the best part for dyson sphere is when you have rocket slios and EM launchers each have an entire planet of firing to make a massive sphere, and with dozen or so planets needed to make that many rockets, and seeing hundreds of logistics vessels lighting up the night sky with their constant warping. I often treat my home system one would treat a starter base in factorio, since its such a mess trying to automate everything with only 3~4 planets
Please please please make more videos on this game. Its so interesting, and having someone actually competent at factory games, playing this, is a godsend.
