Comfortably numb in Pulse. Breathtaking.

I can't play a single note on a Guitar, but I love these conversations.

Eric Johnson's Cliffs of Dover was mind blowing in every way.

Gilmour's solo on the song On the turning away, the live version, is just as good as the one in comfortably numb

@waynemacgregor5614 6 months ago

Gilmour's solos emphasize quality over quantity. Every single note counts and is perfectly placed. His tonality, phrasing and inflection are unmatched by anyone.

"I always ask my questions based on what they say to me."

This is what makes it more of a conversation than an interview, and it allows a more organic flow of information. It's not the same few interview questions we've all heard before, Rick helps find a new perspective of the artist.

Comfortably numb on the pulse tour specifically the CD that was made that solo is the greatest solo of all time. David Gilmore plays for the angels as far as I’m concerned.

@Benjam311 6 months ago

Asking questions based on what they say to you helps to ensure the interview is conversational, and they have already demonstrated willingness to entertain the topic. Beato's an ace at this for a reason.

@RidersOfTheStarlightHighway 6 months ago

BB King said something that might apply to Gilmore: “If you’re going to play more than 2-3 notes, you’d better have a story to tell.” Gilmore is a storyteller when it comes to solos. The same is true of Leslie West.

I cant even listen to comfortably numb... it stirs up the strongest sense of nostalgia within me. Too many intense moments, too many memories. Too many friends gone.

@andrewburdock9348 6 months ago

Heard comfortably numb at a friend's funeral and the end solo seemed to cause a real elevation in the way people remembered my friend . It had sadness but was optimistic too, beautiful

Rick is just the best! I wonder if he realizes he’s today’s Musical version of Herodotus? Generations from now, kids will know the who, how and why of what made the music we cherish so special. Truly an amazing time, musically, to be alive. Thanks Rick!

High Hopes is truly beautiful

DG’s solo on Time, on DSOTM, I’d say that’s the one for me. Fucking gorgeous.

I was around 18 when Comfortably Numb played on MTV at a huge concert event, it was in '91. I was babysitting my cousins and I will NEVER forget that solo....I sat down on the couch and it was like the whole room was suspended in time. I couldn't believe the sound. I'll never forget that conversation...

I think what Rick has done is his true calling in life. Not as a full time musician but as someone who can help non-musicians understand what in the hell is going on and why we love the things we do as fans. Great job Rick!
