Scythe came out of a very specific kind of obsession… I fell hard into TouchDesigner for cutting video to music, time remapping, and building these overkill audio reactive setups. It was addictive, and it worked… but deep down I knew I wasn’t actually going to run that kind of live interactive system outside of my own personal music sets. Most of the time, it was just me chasing a feeling… and melting my machine doing it.

I’ve used After Effects for years… professionally and independently… so at a certain point the question hit me: why am I building massive TouchDesigner TOEs for something I should be able to do quickly inside AE? Last summer I pushed it so far I literally fried my Threadripper… and that was the moment it clicked. The workflow was cool… but it was still overkill.

So about a year ago I started building a suite of tools in After Effects to simulate the same “overbuilt” TouchDesigner style workflow… but in a way that’s faster, simpler, and actually practical for short form edits, audio reactive music videos, and all the random chaotic projects I end up doing. Scythe was one of the first tools that came out of that shift… a way to cut and structure layers at speed, without turning every idea into a full blown engineering project.

As 100% of profits go to independent human artists and future tool production I try to keep prices affordable for all users if not offer tools as a "pay what you want" format"

We reject the grip of algorithms, refusing to be defined by sterile metrics and empty validations. Life passes swiftly, but the things we create linger quietly beyond us. We don't aim for fleeting clicks or passing trends, but rather hope to offer something genuine. In our brief moment, we simply choose to craft, to shape, and perhaps gently speak some beauty into the silence. In the end, maybe our voices matter, not because they drown out silence, but because they dared to speak at all.
