I was recently eating on tapas alley andI left my phone on the table, I got about 50 yards away and I heard a lady shouting señor, it was the waitress running behind me with my phone, there are some lovely people there.

To be honest, those points apply to anywhere in the world and whether or not you are on holiday. It’s just basic common sense for any situation.

Pea man and any other crowd-attracting activity have the scouts as you mentioned, but there are always some members of the group weaving through the gormless spectators and lifting wallets, phones etc. from the distracted. This happens at every tourist stop in every city or country and yet people continue to fall for it

We always used to go to the Indoor Market, there are 2 exchange bureaus there and always gave good rates.

I would also add: be vigilant and watch your pockets. I literally grabbed the hand of an Hindu-looking pickpocket who was about to take my wallet out of my pocket. It was near the Don Pancho Hotel, where there are not as many people as in the center, so it was very obvious and I even got a good look at the thief.

You didn't mention it this time - though I know you have in the past - but the other thing to be aware of when the pea game isgoing on is that you are very likely to have your bag and pockets picked if you're standing watching the game. I've seen it happen to someone and when I tried to point it out the watchers came towards me in a rather menacing way! It's definitely best to just keep walking when you see the pea man about.

Excellent Advice Paul.....All I ever say to travellers is  'don't leave your brains at the Airport'  and Ladies keep hold of your hanbag when sitting down for a mea,l keep it over your shoulder or securely on your lap. Not on the table or over the back of your chair  and the same goes for your phone.

A very informative video Paul. Having been a regular traveller since the 70's like yourself, most of these points are well known to us but many tourists would probably carry on in ignorant bliss. You have provided the travelling community with invaluable advice to help keep them safe. Well done Paul. Keep the great videos coming. They are very much appreciated.😀👍

Very well explained and a great lesson to everyone, thank you 👍

Hi Paul, have been looking at your videos that you have been doing on benidorm hotels. The videos are excellent and all the information you give is excellent.Thank You so much for all the time you take doing all of this. You are the Best.
Love and Good Wishes.❤❤

Solid advice wherever you're traveling, thanks for the video 👍

Sheila's money exchange in the indoor market, is the best rate exchange that you'll get.

Thank you! 🙏🏻 great tips👍🏼

I hope people listen to your words of wisdom. Thank you

Wise words from our Paul. Heed them please.

When I was over in October the best ATM rate that I found was at the Caixacallosa bank on Avenida Del Meditteraneo - can't remember exactly what it was now but it was very low compared to even more well-known banks like Santander, plus you can choose the notes to dispense - handy as you don't want to be walking round with just 50s. 🙂

Thanks Paul for some great tips. I’m off to Benidorm next year one of my cousins got caught with the papers on the table and had his mobile phone stolen he was gutted as it had like most mobile’s hundreds of photos on it.

Thankyou so much. Just booked a holiday here. As a single mom going away with my two boys I appreciate the tips

Not just in Benidorm, but they'll ask to use your phone for an emergency, and they dial a premium line number, that they get paid from, you won't know until you get your bill, also, bank cards with chip and pin, put foil to line your wallet or purse to stop them scanning it as they walk past you.

Loved number 3, always had doubts why these people do that. Fantastic sound advice all round, thank you.
