George Michael had one of the most BEAUTIFUL voices ever

Leave it to a Gen Z to be like “Wait. What?” When us older folks just sang these songs and thought nothing of it 🤣😂🤣

Father Figure is a song about intimacy, protection, and power dynamics.
It's about wanting to become the most important person in someone's life, acting as a protector and a father figure to create a sacred sexual connection. The song balances romantic longing with themes of role-playing and domination, often noted for its mature, kinky undertones rather than an incestuous meaning.

When you remember that he was gay, lyrics like "sometimes love can be mistaken for a crime" makes more sense.

The 80s is what you're missing.  Different time

At age 62 watching this young man, analyze music from my generation is absolutely hilarious in a good way. I just never put that much thought into it. George Michael was just freaking gorgeous to look at and had a beautiful voice.  I think it’s safe to say a lot of of us really didn’t care about the lyrics. We were just singing along and having a good time.❤❤. Absolutely loved your commentary though great video.

“Father Figure” is generally understood as a song about deep devotion and protection, rather than anything inappropriate. George Michael often portrayed complex emotional dynamics in his lyrics. In this song, he uses the idea of being a “father figure” as a metaphor for offering care, guidance, and unconditional love to someone who may be emotionally vulnerable. It’s not intended to be taken literally. The emotional tone is about stepping into a protective role, not crossing any boundaries.

He also said he'll be her preacher, teacher anything she has in mind.. Don't get stuck on the first word. He's saying he'll be her everything!!

His voice was so angelic - oh, how I miss George!  Such a talent!!

George Michael's "Father Figure" (1987) explores a complex, intimate relationship where the narrator offers to be a protective, guiding, and devoted partner—a "father figure"—to someone looking for security. The song addresses themes of devoted love, sexual intimacy, and the yearning to replace parental figures with a committed lover, rather than referencing a literal parent.

George Michael-"One More Try"🔥........another banger!

He was a musician through and through, played many instruments and was just iconic. We miss him.

Father figure = unconditional love

Not about being someone creepy. It's about love and protection.

Keep in mind he wrote this song at 22 or 23 as a closeted gay man. this is about a pattern in relationships not having an underage lover

Father figure = protector, mentor, unconditional love

Timeless look? He was fucking beautiful! Glad you enjoyed !

This song always gives me goosebumps.

He was one of the sexiest men alive at this point in time. I saw him in concert on his faith tour and he was just fantastic.

It's unconditional love...the "father figure" loves, protects, teaches, is always going to care for you
