I recently got the chance to attend my very first EVER (yes really) yarn show, and oh my. It was everything I dreamed of, with the exception of the part where I couldn't buy all the things.

Hi Michelle thanks for the mention in your intro 😊. So pleased you made it to the show. Looks like you and your friends really enjoyed it. I can't believe that I might have walked past you!!! My friend and I did the rag wreath workshop, which was great fun. So much to see, plenty yarn to squish and tons of inspiration! Can't wait until next year! Oh, and I might just have seen an advert for a quilt show at the same venue next month....😉

That looks so fun! I'm really glad you got to experience a yarn show. I enjoy going to those types of events with my wife and friends even though I don't really buy anything (except gifts for them) because I love colour and touching all-the-things. XD

I also love that you highlighted the stall with all the natural dyes. A friend of mine has experimented with them and they turned out so incredible. I was stunned at the variety of beautiful colours she was able to get from things around the house and garden. It's amazing.

DANGER ZONE……cash only budget…..freeze the credit card in the ice tray in the back of the freezer…..I do have to admit my senses do get a bit overloaded…..love the sparkle and bling plus excellent partners in the treasure hunt for the GEMS to be found…..

Congrats on surviving your first local yarn show! My usual MO is to collect cards / contact info from any vendors I like, so that even if I don't get back around to their stall, or can't buy in the moment, I can always look them up when time & budget allow. Personally I prefer the small regional events to the big corporate ones, but Rhinebeck (NYState Hudson Valley, my part of the world) straddles the line at this point.

You've got your national-brands, pricey household-name workshops, and loads of boutique and in-home vendors, plus the actual farmers' market & livestock show. Can easily spend anything from a couple hundred to a few thousand if not careful.

So many pauses to peer at company names! If only the exchange rate wasn't so eye-watering, but thankfully I have the same plans to be very rich by next year.
