Let me know your thoughts as well. Anything you struggled with or think Warframe could improve upon to make the game more beginner friendly.

i started warframe about a week ago with my girlfriend it was kinda confusing at first but i recently just got to The Duviri Paradox and its amazing

The biggest problem is, it's a very complicated game to progress in and when you're a brand-new player, it's like giving a baby a geometry test.

17:23 you are able to true pause any time your settings are set to solo only. And yes there is nothing letting you know that and there should be

As an avid warframe player (about 2500 hours) i was expecting this to be a video of some guy complaining that he didn't like the game. But you actually made some pretty solid points, and i can't even be mad at any of it. Some of my friends just started playing last week, and i was definitely seeing these issues too. Good stuff.

You basically went over every point why my partner stopped playing after a few hours, she described it as tedious and this perfectly describes why and where. Great video!

They also should update how some side quests start. I did Cetus/Saya's Sigil way later because it was a side quest that was grayed out. Some side quests show missing requirements that are like "Talk to X in Y" which isn't really a requirement but instead how you start the quests. If all you have to do is talk to someone then the quests shouldn't be shown as locked if you got access to it.

took me years to get into warframe because once you start and you start looking around and you see weapon slots and warframe slots and everything costs platinum and how long everything takes to craft it kinda feels like a mobile game when you dont know about trading and how much of it you can get for free without even having to trade but once i got over that hurdle it became one of my favorite games and i fell in love with the story and the lore

I'm an LR3 player now, but I too quit the game when i tried it the first time back in 2014, and I totally agree with all your points. I didn't have any friends who played, and I didn't want to interact with veterans who could help (just because I didn't want to). It was hard for me to stay engaged in the early game until the cinematic quests really took off. I was annoyed with the time gating (which has improved, but could be better), my weapons doing no damage (because I didn't know anything about mods), and how repetitive everything was. My interest in the "grand story" I kept hearing about was what made me push through. In my opinion, all those gaps between the big, cinematic quests need some smaller quests to bridge those gaps. For example, the point of completing the star chart is to unlock more quests, weapons, and frames. But why? At first, just seeing all those blue nodes turn complete just wasn't appealing to me. But if there was a story (like planet-specific quests that lead to the boss fight), I think more people would remain engaged. That way, there is always a "main story path" to follow, a dragon to slay if you will.

If we're sharing beginner experiences, I started off having fun but took like a year long break because I didn't know how to progress and get new frames n what not. I watched like one warframe video, got back into it and now I'm addicted. (I figured out how mods work a few years ago btw)

dude i fully agree with the fortuna thing. me and my girlfriend just wanted to play the game together but kept putting us into solo sessions alone and we hated it

That's wild because it's been made massively more concise and streamlined over the past 2 years. Yeah, Its massive and overwhelming, it's an mmo-like game after all, but if you focus on just following and progressing through the star chart as directed, doing the quests as you find them, you will get a decent base of knowledge. Especially with the new junction requirements being actually meaningful in teaching player what basic systems and actions are.

Literally all they need to do is add a percentage complete tracker for the star chart that shows on the navigation panel in huge bold font.  Then if you'd been logged off for more than a month have the game send you a communication that you are X% complete with the star chart and have Ordis say something stupid about clearing out the star system of evil.  Clearing the star chart is really the main base objective of the game and you get prompted for quests as you go.

All of your other recommendations are pretty good.  Game modes need to be added to the codex or something AND taught the first time you play them.  That shouldn't be that hard.

I agree, especially on the early open world content. I've had similar experiences losing new players because we could either play together or they could progress, but not both.

The Vox Solaris quest needs updated badly.  Allowing groups would help but bigger is that a rework of the Venus node layout means people are not forced to do an excavation before doing it and the quest doesn't explain it.

10 years later I came back to this game. Gave it an actual try and now I can't stop playing it.

Agreed especially regarding abilities.  the very first thing you are taught is to spam your 1st ability , but energy is never explained (at any point in the game) also to compound the confusion energy is infinite only until you move outside that first door way. I've seen some new players go hours thinking the ability must be on a cool down or something.  and it encourages them to forget abilities all together.
There should be a section that makes you use your abilities, its the whole point of the frames and the funnest part of the power fantasy.

Brooo 🤣🤣I did the same and now 10 years later and 5k+ hrs cant stop playing this game!

Solo quests are the tutorials for the gameplay that can be played together.
Vox solaris is a simple bounty with story content in between, because bounties are the content on fortuna, players need to know what to do and they figure this out on their own. The only content without a tutorial is railjack i believe.

Warframe has a lot of problems—some mainly affect experienced players, while others hit mid-game and returning players the hardest.

I personally went from Mastery Rank 14–16 to 23 in just a few days, mostly by speedrunning. The last time I really played seriously was around the Excalibur Umbra update, so coming back now made many of these issues very noticeable.

One big example is clearing the full Star Chart. I would have never done it if a friend hadn’t explicitly told me to. The game never gives you a clear reason why finishing every node actually matters, what it unlocks, or why you should care in the first place.

Then there’s crafting. For some weapons, you don’t even know that building them unlocks additional weapons unless you actively check the Market and buy the blueprints. The game simply doesn’t communicate this.

On top of that, depending on the content you play, selling weapons can hurt you long-term. For example, in The Circuit—especially on Steel Path—you really shouldn’t sell weapons, because having a large and well-modded weapon pool matters a lot.

The same applies if you want to build proper long-term loadouts, and without going into spoilers, even selling regular Warframes can be a mistake later on due to certain systems.

Early on, none of this is explained. You have limited slots, you need credits, so you sell weapons or frames—only to end up farming them again later because the game never warned you in the first place.

The Foundry is another major issue, mainly because of clutter and missing filters.

For example, when I set the Foundry to “Items Build Ready”, I still see items that can be crafted endlessly and that I realistically don’t need anymore—like Dragon Keys or Protector Drones. Even though I’ve already built them multiple times, they keep filling up the list.

On top of that, already completed items don’t disappear. If I build something like Gyre’s Chassis, it still shows up afterward just because I now own it twice. This unnecessarily bloats the interface. Simple options like hiding already-built items, proper filters, or a manual hide/favorite system would make the Foundry much cleaner and easier to use.

Relic rewards have a similar problem. At the end of a mission, I only see things like “Owned” or “Owned 0–5”. That doesn’t really help. It makes it hard to tell whether I need multiple copies for a weapon, what I’m still missing for a full build, or whether I should keep farming that relic in the same mission session.

This ties into a bigger inventory issue. As you progress, the list of Prime parts keeps growing with every new Warframe and weapon. It becomes increasingly difficult to keep track of what you need for yourself, what you’re missing, and which blueprints you don’t own yet, meaning the item doesn’t even show up in the Foundry.

A separate storage, tagging, or sorting system would help a lot—for example, being able to mark items as “keep for sets,” “sell later,” “for Ducats,” or “for mastery”. Especially since Platinum is king in Warframe if you want to progress faster or deal with vaulted items, better inventory management would be a huge quality-of-life improvement.

A similar issue exists with mods. You can auto-sell or convert duplicates to Endo, but you’re only allowed to protect 10 mods from being selected. That’s far too few—many mods have real value or niche uses. Constantly having to double-check whether you’re about to sell something important gets exhausting.

And then there are systems like Kuva Liches. The game barely explains anything about them. It doesn’t clearly tell you that captured Liches can be traded, where you can see them, or how and where to sell them.

I personally only stumbled into that content by accident—starting a Lich while rushing through a mission, clicking through prompts, and suddenly being locked into a system with no clear explanation, no abort option, and no guidance on what to do next. All I knew was that I was suddenly losing loot on certain planets.

Without YouTube guides or help from friends, I would have been completely lost. Even after accepting the quest, the game doesn’t clearly explain what your objective is, what capturing or vanishing a Lich actually means, or how you’re supposed to progress. At the very least, this should be explained in a short written tutorial.

And that’s the core issue: How is a new or returning player supposed to understand all of this without external guides or experienced friends helping them out?
