This is ridiculously good for someone trying to understand how the London system works.

He really should be teaching her the Bongcloud.

I hope they understand how incredibly blessed they are, to be taught one on one by a super GM my god I would cut off my arm to have that opportunity

Hikaru's a real gent. Come on guys, poki is cute but she ain't gmhikaru level cute.

Attacking pattern timestamps for my friends at the bar and library:
4:46 - Why to move the N out to center after B trade?
14:25 - R sacrifice w/ Q & B pin leads to mate in 3.

17:44 - Why does the N belong on d2 in this position?
20:43 - Similar R sac tactical motif with forced mate.
23:00 - Secret to middlegame attacks in the London system - coordination.
27:14 - Frustrations about not being able to find sacrifices which win.
29:07 - Riddle the 5head escape square. Sometimes the pawn needs to take the risk and go past the safe square in dire conditions.
30:32 - Puzzle with Q & B coordination.

Hikaru: Let's say I go Knight here.
Hikaru: (Looks at the Eval Bar)
Hikaru: Hol Up

Its so rare to see a GM contributing so much with the chess comunity. I respect Hikaru for this.

For someone who plays trillions of speedchess games, he is very patient. Impressive teaching.

Hikaru: “I didn’t even notice”  Also Hikaru:   Stopped and paused straight after🤗

I feel like poki sometimes needs kind of a long time to notice relatively obvious moves, while she also grasps some more difficult-to-spot things pretty fast. if she internatlizes the patterns for the easier ones she should be able to win pogchamps

Hikaru saves the best for last, The Jerome Gambit

21:35 on chat 'This is like Stephen Hawking teaching kindergarten physics'

let's be honest, intercontinental ballistic missile gambit should be the top priority to learn first

I can't believe I'm watching Pokimane for Hikaru's content.

1:23 london system start
2:13 when to push other pawn up in start

15:00 attack 2

19:30 attack 3
22:00 attack 3 if he moves rook
29:39 another variation to get mate if king has more room
32:06 using bishop and queen only mate move to know

Hikachu and Pokimane sit beneath a tree,
discussing checkmate in three

As a London player, this is extremely helpful

This hurts my headdddd but Hikaru did a great job being patient with her

This kind of publicity is going to do more for the spread of chess in one year than 50 years of gatekeeeping by the chess elite.

Hikaru is an absolute gent and very patient with beginners but Pokemane could have engaged a lot more with him in this video, it seems like she kept her mouth shut unless she knew the move instead of teasing out or talking through her reasoning.

The streamer and coach that I've been enjoying to watch the most is Charlie and GM Daniel Naroditsky as they have an excellent bro-ship. Daniel is almost infinitely patient and makes Moist Critikal work and reason absolutely everything verbally which is both great practice for him but also excellent for me as I am also around the 1000 level and looking to progress.
