It's why you never let the flag touch the ground.

"Our Flag Does Not Fly Because the Wind Moves It, It Flies With the Last Breath of Each Soldier Who Died Protecting It."

Fortunately that exact flag still lives on today in DC at the Smithsonian God bless old Glory

We never let our flag touch the ground, because it’s a sign of surrender, and for us, our flag is a symbol of our sacrifice in our fight for freedom and our land.

My mother was Born in Central America after becoming a U S Citizen, people would ask her where she was From she'd say "I'm an AMERICAN" because of her accent they ask "no where were you born" she'd respond " it doesn't matter because I'm an AMERICAN" my parents were Proud of our Country and passed that onto me and my siblings they also taught us Service before Self.  One of my siblings became a Teacher, one a Nurse and 2 if us served over 20 years each in the Military. Having been Stationed in Europe, Asia and Deploying to the Middle East in my opinion there's NO BETTER PLACE THAN AMERICA

THE FLAG NEVER TOUCHES THE GROUND !!!

This is why some people get so upset when others (even Americans) say - "Why care about a flag, pledge allegiance to it, get angry when it's on the ground, or disrespect it.  It's just a flag."  It's much more than just a flag to those who know.  Great reaction. Thanks.

We stopped Hitler. We stopped Japan. As a proud american veteran, WE WILL NEVER EVER SURRENDER TO ANYONE!

I was in the US Army. We had a special place to burn American flags that touched the ground. We never allowed a flag to fly that had touched the ground. It was an old rule we took very seriously.

you never stop our star spangled banner to talk!!!!!!!!!

We have a patriotic song, "My Country, 'Tis of Thee" the old unofficial national anthem we took the tune of "God Save the King" probably to piss off the Brits.

This occurred during the War of 1812 we weren't the "Colonies" we were the United States at this time.

I was born and raised to love my country🇺🇲 and I always cry when the song is sung 😢😭

This is why a lot of people got upset when Colin Kapernick took a knee during the National Anthem

Fun and bizarre fact... the Key Brigde, which was JUST hit by the cargo ship in Baltimore a few days ago, is named after Francis Scott Key, the man from this video.

I served in the U.S. Navy for 21 years and every time we returned home, seeing the American Flag flying as we entered port, always moved me and filled me with pride.

At 6:25 she is so gorgeous, love your reactions to this story.

I'm a American and I Love America 🇺🇸 and we Love our British Brothers ❤. What happened back then is History. All we wanted was freedom from King George the 3rd.  Alot of men died to give me the freedom in this Country I Love. And I still love my British friends and family across the Pond 😉👍❤️❤️❤️

As a 15th generation American, Austrian-Hungarian, British, Swedish, Dane, Italian, German, I had grandfathers on both sides in the Revolutionary War.
