People can't afford housing, food, healthcare, or utilities; they don't care about the Met Gala. I used to love watching the Met, but now my friends and I feel disgust and frustration seeing so much wealth at a time of massive wealth inequality.

The Met Gala is tired. They need to shelve it for at least a decade.

It must be possible to redeem oneself. We must all be allowed to have said and done regrettable things, to have come to understand how badly we behaved, and to feel sincere remorse for it. I believe Galliano has done exactly that. He has been sober for many years and has publicly acknowledged and apologized for his wrongdoing. He is also a brilliant artist.

Regardless of his errors, no one can deny his creativity and impact!!!

Why the mainstream think people today would buy their nonsense???

Nobody cares about Met gala. These people need to stop doing this stuff at the time where people are dealing with cost of living, war, etc. etc. It makes them look stupid.

I saw this headline on Facebook and immediately thought, NOT GOOD!

He was excellent at draping and fantasy. He is still a living legend. Not many remaining.

Fashion, like art, should be controversial. It should push boundaries and open up doors to civil discourse among differing opinions. I hate the way everyone wants everything sanitized and watered down these days. Just sweep the controversy under the rug and pretend it never happened instead of learning from it and moving on. I'm not defending Galliano's comments, but it sounds like he has worked to make amends for his mistakes, and the 2027 theme will be addressing this as well as celebrating his work. Why can't we all just sit back and enjoy what some commenters call the "Met Gala Freak Show!"

His genius should be celebrated and that one mistake should no define his legacy. Other people have done worse and are STILL celebrated.

Honestly, why does anyone still care about what John Galliano said 15 years ago? He is a fashion designer, not a politician. He apologized and is doing a great job today. Nowadays, the outrage culture on the internet is much worse—everyone thinks they have to play judge.

When Diana Vreeland was in charge it was Classy, Cultured & Elegant. Under Wintour it is a Narrcasistic Circus with very bad taste.

Galliano is a talent but I sense in the climate we are living in today will cause upsets. Also this type of event & exhibition should no longer be the focus of society. We have far more pressing issues to take care of.

Lauren …. Girl… Folks know who John Galliano is. What are you talking about

@jayt4835 2 months ago

This was a VERY VERY long time ago. He apologized. Did the rehab schtick. It shocks me what people decide to be outraged about and what to forgive or overlook. This whole thing is silly. A) who cares? B) he’s iconic. C) No really, who cares? D) Fashion was more fun when it was centered around girls & old school gays.
