31:06 The dimensions thing could’ve been so cool if it wasn’t on a timer. Basically, if they did the Ultra Wormhole again, it would’ve been actually enjoyable to maybe figure out which combinations of donuts would send you to what kind of environment, where we could freely explore at our leisure.

I LOVE alola. I have played it countless times, forgive its faults, love its flaws, do things no one would consider sane.

I will forever hate that mandatory Festival Plaza tutorial oh my god LET ME FREE

Edit: nvm I did it like 5 times to shiny hunt poipole and it was so much faster than I remember

The Shiny Charm in ZA "was" locked behind the 1000 battles. With the DLC they added more Missions, but no more tiers/rewards, thus you can just go and catch more pokemon and get it now way easier.

The thing is that with Gen 1 Dragon, you only have Dragon Rage, and that move is a set 40 damage that might as well not even be that type because you will never get STAB or super effective bonus from it.

Honestly, I wonder if a Gen 1 programmer was like, "I don't know what to do for Dragon's offensive interactions," and then someone was like, "Just make it supereffective against itself only because who cares. No one will ever see it." Then later, they made Gen 2 and didn't even think about why Gen 1's team did what they did, and so Dragon became supereffective against only itself for the rest of Pokémon history up to today.

As someone who loves Minecraft and Legends: Arceus, SV crafting was horrendous 😭

17:08 "why is Lopunny here? Whats so hot about Lopunny?"

Well, I'm pretty sure you walked yourself right into that one, huh pat?! ☠️

Festival plaza was actually goated. You got alot of rewards there. Unfortunately you needed your 3ds to street pass alot but back then it was fun. Now its ehh

30:15 I actually forgot about the TMs thing. I honestly think that, if it wasn’t a Pokémon game, I probably would’ve dropped it for that alone. I’m really not a fan of hunting and gathering items and materials just to get one use out of whatever they’re for. It was also one of my least favorite things about playing Arceus.

Pokémon red, blue & Pokémon Yellow were also my first Pokémon games too Pattarrzz. I guess not many that have played gen one have stayed around for the whole series or some of them changed too much that they are best left forgotten about.

my 1st was pokemon yellow, i remember asking for it for christmas and i was super happy when i got my wish, good old times

31:54 it’s worse because there’s extra missions in the mega dimensions dlc so technically you could’ve just waited and not done the 1000 battles but no one knew that so it was a literal pointless grind

Dont worry buddy... me too. First game was blue on gbc when i was four and learning to read. Mom and dad got me that, plus a strat guide book, and tons of aa batts. We were planning a road trip and that was to help keep me occupied. We had to get headphones less than 10 minutes in lol

So talking about first games, TECHNICALLY red and blue were actually my first. I say technically because i was not the one who owned them nor did i make the character, and i didnt actually play through the whole game, obviously. So like i DID play them first, but i didnt actually EXPERIENCE them really. The first game i owned and fully played through was pokemon gold, and my very first starter wasa actually chikorita! Shes just so damn cute :3 shame the grass type was done super dirty in gen 2 lol. Meganium isnt a bad pokemon by any stretch of the imagination, despite what people like to say, it really was just an anti-grass generation. The first two gyms both resisting AND super effective against it, 3 other gyms fully resist it, another one is super effective against it, and not a single one weak to it, i honestly dont even know how 6 year old me made it through the game xD i wish i could remember more, but at such a young age im not surprised that i dont.

God I feel old too. I’m 33 red was the first one I played. Gold was the first one I personally owned. Got it for Christmas with the strategy guide

"All five members of the wurmple family." I like the idea they'd put just wurmple in and none of it's evolutions

My main problem with ScarVi was that gym leaders only ever use Terastalization to make a random Pokémon fit their specialist type.
Meaning you don't have to prepare any coverage. The ONLY exception to this was Larry who used it for double STAB facade.

I'm from a younger gen, but I started Pokemon with the OG Red and Blue as well, though later I got Ruby, Heartgold, X, Black 2 and White 2, Shield, Legends Arceus, and Scarlet and Violet, along with Legends Z-A. I have not done any of the DLCs yet, but hope I can in the future. I have also played Rom Hacks like Too Many Types 1 and 2, Radical Red, FireRed Rocket Edition, and Insurgence.

I actually started with red and blue too lol the OG cartidges were so chonky

When I first saw the hitmonchan sprite I thought it was a togakiss watching a doduo that was taking a poop

0:17 The guy in the background is a character from the opening of the old Pokemon TCG Computer game. You might’ve seen it from an MandJTV thumbnail.
