The TRAGEDY and DRAMA of Night Court: The Show that Survived EVERYTHING

Late Night Vault

Night Court (1984) made massive stars out of Harry Anderson, John Larroquette, and Markie Post, but it also had one of the most chaotic behind-the-scenes runs in TV history. From a revolving door of cast members, to sudden devastating losses, to bizarre network meddling and a "finale" no one saw coming, Night Court, for 9 seasons, survived EVERYTHING thrown its way.

Marsha Warfield absolutely owned....she strolled up with the sass and attitude and always had great one liners

This is one of my favorite shows. The theme song is one of my ringtones.

Night court and married with children raised me and imo are two of the best sitcoms in history.

I used to love this show, and it bums me out hearing that everybody but two people from the cast are dead.

John Larroquette made this show a success. He had so many great scenes and lines that you probably couldn’t get away with nowadays.

I was a young latchkey kid during night courts run. Loved it.

Richard Moll scared the living hell out of me as Big Ben in House. I was afraid to get near a pool for a whole summer when I was a lil guy... LOL

Markie Post was an absolutely underrated smoke show.

Not to mention how tall the cast was. Warfield is 5' 11", Anderson 6' 4", Larroquette 6' 4", Robinson 6' 3", Moll 6' 8"....

My parents and I used to watch this on broadcast TV. It definitely got ridiculous but it still entertained us. Thanks for the great vid! Much love...

Many nights in the 80s and 90s flipping channels and finding Night Court. Sad how nearly the entire cast has past now. Time goes by so fast.

Forgot to mention that killer theme song! So funky. Also as soon I saw that slow moving turtle guy I could hear Roz say "Hey lightening, where's the fire?" As he slowly walked past her. lol Classic

Dan Fielding you shaped my comedic personality at a young age. I’ve rewatched this show so many times

I just rewatched the entire series again with my girlfriend a couple of months ago. One of my all time favorites. It's like a warm blanket or catching up with an old friend. It has one of the greatest theme songs as well.

I think this show and Cheers really capture this feeling of being in a real setting with familiar "friends" like no other shows in the 1980s. Definitely underrated.
