I worked in Chelsea in 1966 in a car showroom & we had all 4 Beatles in our showroom , Ringo bought a Mercedes 600 & later that year John bought his RR Phantom the White one which I took to his house .

It happened to me. Bavaria, 1987, at our local Mercedes-Benz dealer. After 12 years driving Fiats I was ready to change the brand. I test drove a BMW 320 I and wasn’t impressed. My budget was good for a Benz 230E or a 190 E 2.6.
I walked into the showroom in shorts and a polo shirt. The salesman looked up from his desk and buried his nose back into his books.
I muttered around the cars in the showroom for about ten minutes. He still didn’t care.
So I went out and bought the top of the range Fiat Croma turbo i.e. – I never had more fun for about 140k kilometers in 4 years. Back then, you could still put your foot down on many stretches of road and I enjoyed going faster than 200 kpm.
The bottom line: the dealership lost around 10,000 DM, and the salesperson lost his commission.

i REMEMBER BACK IN 1974 LEFT THE ARMY ABD WAS AHGV DRIVER. IWAS WORKING FOR A BOAT DILVERY COMPANY. IT WAS THE 1st TIME I HAD TO GO TO EARLS COURT FOR THE BOAT SHOW. WELL I WAS TALKING TO THIS OTHER YOUNGMAN JUST DRESSED LIKE ME, JEANS AND T SHIRT. WELL AT TH E TIME WE WERE LOOKING AT THE NEW CATAMARANS WHICH WERE PRICED IT OVER 120K . THE SALES MAN CAME OVER ASKED ME AND WHAT WE WERE LOOKING AT. HE SAID TO THIS OTHER GUY WHO SAID HE WAS INTERESTED IN ANUTHING.HE SAID THE CATAMARAN. HE SAID IT OUT OF YOUR RANGE THESE . WELL IF YOU SAW THE GUYS FACE, AND HE TURNED AROUND ABD SAID YOU BETTER CHANGED YOUR WORDS, I WANT 2 OF THOSE. I NEARLLY FELL THROUGH THE ROOF. HE OPENED HIS CHEQUE BOOK AND WROT EOUT 249 K THERE AND THEN. I WAS TAKEN BACK, AND IT WAS JUST FELT WHT PAUL Mc CANITY FELT TOO

Many years ago I worked in the offices in the same building as Jack Barclay in Berkely Square. I used to walk past the showroom every day and often watched the superior pretentious salesmen. I had a colleague who was a successful budding entrepreneur who said to me that when he had made his first million he and I would go into Jack Barclay in tee shirts and jeans and I was to negotiate the purchase of the Rolls Royce on his behalf. Unfortunately it never happened 😃

I grew up well, a rear door handle fell off my Aunt’s Bentley on the way to the country club for lunch. I drive an 8 year old Ford, love it, worked for a Ford store for 28 years, They were mighty pleased when I decided to retire, along with my new then Ford. Not even 100,000 km on her. (he). Louise

Now Paul McCartney is being refused by this car 🚗 sells man 👨 who is making a huge mistake, because he doesn't know who Paul McCartney truly is in his life. October 8th , 2026.
