Engineer main here! I have quick no bullshit tips!

1. Slapping buildings with wrench constantly does make your buildings go faster!
2. Ammo = metal
3.All spawn rooms have an Ammo and health resupply
4. Building a turret takes some time, so build it where an enemy can peek-a-boo  around a corner instead of upfront in the battle field.
5. You can pick up and move buildings with right click, no need for destruction if you're close by!
6. Upgrade your dispenser and teleporter!
Upgrade = faster dispenser metal output and faster teleporters.
7. There are no bad or ineffective classes. Engineer just has a somewhat high skill floor.

Imma be honest, after watching someone play TF2 *completely fresh*, it makes me remember the sheer learning curve of TF2

There is a lot to learn about this game, but once you get a hang of it the game is a lot of fun.

Ok, here's some explanations on how damage works in this game:

1: Most weapons have damage falloff and damage ramp up. I'm sure you already know what falloff is but things that don't normally have it in other shooters do here, like soldier's rockets. Ramp up makes it so you do EXTRA damage at very close range. Additionally, engineer buildings ignore both falloff and ramp up and only take base damage from all weapons.

2: Shotguns do more damage at close range (wow really?) but not in the same way as Buck and Barik. They actually shoot individual pellets in tf2, and the more hit the more damage you do, which is why the heavy you shot in the tutorial took more damage on his body than his head. More pellets hit him when you aimed for the wider area.

3: Only sniper can headshot people. The only other way to headshot someone is with a specific unlockable gun for the spy, the Ambassador.

4: This game has random crits. All weapons have a random chance to do triple the damage to you with no downside. Melee weapons have an extra high chance. Everybody hates it.

5: You saw in the tutorial that Medic can grant invincibility to one of his teammates. Unlike Rei or Fernando's ult, this lasts for TEN whole seconds, and is the single most influential thing in the game. You can tell someone's ubered by seeing their entire body become a glowing red or blue. Medic has multiple kinds of ubers based on which medigun he's using too.

6: Don't use the tutorials to get information on how to play this game, they don't tell you anything. Look up some guides.

No there is no matchmaking. Slapping your building with a wrench does make them build faster.

I never thought I would ever hear anybody ever praise the tutorial of tf2. This was a fun video!

Omfg, I never thought I would hear somebody both so new and yet so wise to basic tf2 things.
On one hand, you immediately knew the buttons to press for engie and figured out how to set up your stuff in good spots, but on the other hand you thought the only way to gather metal was from a dispenser.
I'd be more than happy to watch more tf2 content!!!

Oh my god this made me incredibly happy to see. New players are always such a treat to watch.
I really hope you'll enjoy your learning experience with TF2. It does have a bit of a learning curve but it's so much fun and there's always stuff to learn.

I have a lot of hours in tf2 and can confidently say it is one of the games I've loved most
However it's been in an awful state for a while with the bot problem.

Tf2 hasn't made me regret playing it, so it's still got that above OW

Ok im gonna add some tips that others not talking about:
1. You can recover anything (ammo, metal, health, and other effects) in resupply cabinet, every single spawnroom has at least 1

2.  If you dont know the map layout, always look around. They always have some clues to follow like arrow signs

3. In tf2 there is no straight upgrade weapon (cough third degree ), stock weapon are generally always good at all conditions. But there is some weapon that basically cover the classes weaknesses. Like sandvich for heavy, crusader crossbow for medic and the list goes on. Of course this doesnt mean you suppose to always equipped, you can go whatever you want

4. Every single unlockable weapons has some different use, so just keep experimenting  and see what weapon fit your playstyle or work at this circumstances (or just look at youtube)

5. In tf2 there is a loadout system that basically a prefix combination of your weapons and cosmetic. With this, you can actually change the loadout in middle of match. And also you can just change your equipment in middle of battle. With this system you can just freely change how you play the game with just simple click (note: you can change the different loadout only in spawnroom or just touch the ressuply cabinet)

6. Crouch jump is pretty essentials

7. Some class has a special attributes that make one class different from others:
- Scout = Can double jump, the fastest class
- Soldier = Can blast jump with all of his primary, the second slowest class
- Pyro = Can airblast projectile, player or even extinguish teammate, the only class can apply afterburn (with all of his primary, some in secondary and melee)
- Demoman = Can blast jump with all stickybomb and all grenade excluding loch n load, technically the only class has 2 primaries
- Heavy: Has a decrease to knockback effect (funny enough the airblast doesnt count as a knockback), the biggest health pool in the game and also the slowest class
- Engineer = Can build buildings (also has a unique mechanic 'metal' bar), one of two class that rely more on a melee weapon , has a unique melee mechanic (can use to upgrade and repair buildings)
- Medic = Can heal his teammates, have a health regen, have a unique übercharge meter, the second fastest class in the game alongside with spy
- Sniper = Can headshot with all of primaries (sydney slepeer can still headshot just not deal that headshot damage), his primaries doesnt have damage fallof nor damage rampup
- Spy = Can invisible, can disguise as an enemy (matching up the speed of the disguised enemy), can see enemy health, another class that have a unique melee mechanic (backstab, stab someone from behind), has a slot weapon solely for countering engineer buildings (the sapper)

As a long time TF2 player (6 years) and a not so long time Paladins player (5 months) it was interesting watching a kind of opposite experience to trying a new game. One of TF2's biggest flaws is how little it actually teaches new players, which kinda sucks for how in depth the game is, so if you ever want to really get into the meat of the game you'll usually need a beginner's guide from one of the many passionate YouTubers. All in all though, it was fun watching you experience the game I know and love so well for the first time! I hope you'll come back and try it every now and then and maybe you'll discover something you really like about the game!
