Hey Vasco family! First of all, I want to thank you for all the support and affection in the comments! I realized that, in fact, our giant fanbase is very unique and also quite aware of what it means to be Vasco.

However, I need to sincerely apologize for some specific flaws. Being our first video, in documentary style, we lacked a little more attention and expertise in some details and historical dates. I promise to increase the rigor and concern for the quality of future videos.

Let's get to the considerations:
At minute 1:42 the explanation wasn't the best... So here's the more complete version:
The club was founded on August 21, 1898 by a group of Portuguese and Brazilian immigrants who sought to commemorate the fourth centenary of the discovery of the sea route to India, made by the Portuguese navigator Vasco da Gama in 1498.
From minute 2:52 onwards, we made mistakes when mentioning the dates. So here are the corrections:
ON JULY 23, 1922: VASCO IS CHAMPION OF THE 2ND DIVISION OF THE CARIOCA CHAMPIONSHIP.
ON AUGUST 12, 1923: VASCO IS CARIOCA CHAMPION IN ITS DEBUT YEAR IN THE 1ST DIVISION.

On April 7, 1924, Vasco published an official letter that would become known as the "Historical Response," a milestone in the fight against elitism and racism in Brazilian football.
Finally, at minute 9:05 we mentioned that: "the 1998 Libertadores placed Vasco among the greatest in South America..." But, in fact, Vasco was already dominating South America and Europe, having its first Golden Age with the Express of Victory between the 40s and 50s.
On May 14, 1948: Vasco became the first continental champion club in the world.
On May 25, 1949: Vasco defeated Arsenal-England in São Januário by 1-0, goal by Nestor. THIS MATCH HAS THE HIGHEST UNOFFICIAL ATTENDANCE RECORD AT SÃO JANUÁRIO: 60,000 PRESENT
On April 8, 1951: VASCO GOES TO MONTEVIDEO AND CRUSHES PEÑAROL, WHICH HAD 7 STARTING PLAYERS FROM THE 1950 WORLD CUP. 3-0 IN ONE OF VASCO'S MOST PRAISED COLLECTIVE PERFORMANCES IN HISTORY. THIS GAME BECAME KNOWN AS "REVENGE OF THE MARACANAÇO" AND REPERCUSSIONS THROUGHOUT THE FOOTBALL WORLD.

On July 1, 1951: VASCO CRUSHES SPORTING, THE PORTUGUESE CHAMPIONS, 5-1 IN THE RIO INTERNATIONAL CUP.
On July 5, 1951: VASCO CLAIMS ANOTHER VICTIM AND BEATS AUSTRIA VIENNA, THE AUSTRIAN CHAMPIONS, 5-1, WITH 4 GOALS FROM FRIAÇA.

On July 4, 1953: AFTER WINNING THE FIRST GAME OF THE RIVALDÁVIA OCTAGONAL TOURNAMENT FINAL AGAINST SÃO PAULO AT PACAEMBU 1-0, VASCO WINS AGAIN IN RIO (2-1) AND ACHIEVES ITS FIRST INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE.

Then on March 4, 1954: VASCO BEATS EL ORO-MEX IN MEXICO AND REACHES AN UNBEATEN STREAK OF 34 GAMES AGAINST FOREIGN TEAMS.
On July 20, 1956: Vasco beats Real Madrid for the first time and becomes the first non-European team to beat the European champion. Real Madrid had also won the Little World Cup title and had legends like Di Stéfano, Gento, Rial and Molowny.
On June 12, 1957: In the grand final of the Paris tournament, Vasco beats the two-time European champion Real Madrid 4-3. Real had stars like Di Stéfano, Kopa, Mateos and Gento in its lines. THIS WAS THE FIRST CONFRONTATION BETWEEN CONTINENTAL CHAMPIONS IN A TOURNAMENT FINAL IN FOOTBALL HISTORY.

Why is Vasco's fanbase different from all others? In this video, you'll understand the true origin of the Vasco da Gama sentiment—and why it goes far beyond football.

We go back to 1924, the moment when Vasco da Gama made one of the most important decisions in the history of Brazilian sport, confronting the system and refusing to exclude black and poor players. An act that not only changed football but created a unique identity that transcends generations.

Here you will discover how this history shaped the mentality of the Vasco da Gama fan, why the club became a symbol of resistance, and why, even amidst defeats and crises, the fans never abandon it.

This is not just a video about football. It's about identity, belonging, and history.

👉 Watch until the end and understand why Vasco is much more than a club.
