i'm still so annoyed that there was never an option for laser sight for all weapons

One detail i loved is how Luis tells you about the plaga in the original it didn't make sense for Saddler to tell you his entire plan and i love how in the remake they specify in the files that they gave Ashley a superior plaga type so she would maintain her intelligence and makes the plan make much more sense . Gameplay wise i feel hardcore is the best way to play the game professional on the other hand is riddled with bs such as lack of staggers and the parry doesn't work as well  and i feel like the game could've used a dodge roll like that one mod out there but the game does get much easier when leveling up the sniper and the riot gun to level3 damage and higher  i find and i generally agree with you about the grab and the aiming specially the grab which wasn't broken in RE2R and should've stayed the same

Even the voice acting in the remake isn't so hot nowadays yet the original is super memorable when they speak.

I think the axe Ganado showing up to kill Leon and Luis actually was put there as a makeshift prison guard to keep watch on Leon and Luis

All the commotion they caused from trying to dislodge the pulley from the ceiling alerted the guard so he came in to check on the prisoners

Imagine having free controls and still being more sluggish.

One excellent thing the game does is that sidequests can be done without picking up the request, and even done early. For example, in chapter 12, you get the quest to get the scratched emerald. But you can do that quest as early as chapter 8, after ashley stabs you. This rewards a player for knowledge from past runs heavily, letting you be efficient in getting spinels if you want to engage with it in a run.

A lot of good points, one minor thing though. Your point on Mendez and Saddler being scarier or better characters with the full-on religious orientation kinda fell flat for me. I just feel it's way overdone at this point and generic.

Saddler and Salazar also get way less screentime with  there being no hijacking of the radio. Tonally it's understandable, as those were  some of the cheesiest moments, but something could've been done to give Saddler especially something other than "muh religion"

I really appreciate you talking about the knife durability inconsistencies and especially the bloom.

The bloom really pissed me off. I can deal with it in most encounters, but the shooting range is an absolute nightmare if you’re trying to get all the skull tokens.

Amidst some of the very unproductive discourse over the remake as of late, I find this review to be a breath of fresh air in that you view the remake fairly both in relation to its predecessor as well as by its own merits. Def subbing for future content.

i thought i was going insane from playing dark souls a lot recently when 'plin plin plon' was playing in the background at 43:40

Great Video! Love the background music, you got good taste!

This is probably the best re4 review on YouTube

I think the signposting of the game about flashbangs killing parasites is fine. It might reduce some experimentation, but it informs the player and allows them to make decisions they didnt know they had.

Sat through the whole video, liked & subscribed! Knuckle bump
* I didn't see any indicators I was leaving a map full of treasure, but probably clicked thru it.

It's true, both movement systems are valid designs. The difference is in how well they're executed. Re4 is extremely tight, rem4ke is loose.

On enemy models, I dont know why this has a full minute dedicated to it. I still notice repeats but dont mind them. Last Stand, the flash game from I think 2007, has procedurally generated zombies, so if they wanted to have more models they couldve done that I guess.

The grabs are aggregious here since theyre not only instant damage, but they come out faster than you can react. This means you're discouraged from ever being close, which would be fine, but
1. resident evil has been made around point blank buckshot to the face for decades
2. resident evil 4 added melees, another reason to fight up close
3. the remake adds parries, ANOTHER reason close quarters is the focal point of the game
I have no idea where the game wants me to be.

The argument stagger inconsistancy also makes no sense. With a gunshot you are wasting a bullet for the chance of staggering the enemy vs a very tiny amount of knife durability for the same effect. That's not a good risk reward, the parry is just flat out better. A better defense would be to say that the stagger is purely offensive now - it's a chance based effect that makes combat feel more dynamic. I still think it makes gunplay feel awful, but that's a logical argument.

Good review! Your comments and considerations are fair, and have aged very well compared to some of the hair trigger reviews that get pooped out for new releases. I wish the algorithm had introduced me to your content earlier, but you know how it goes... YouTube can tend to bury certain creators on saturated subjects.

Those shooting gallery clips were killing me, though. I picked up every token on console, so I think I'm allowed to call out the exaggerated poor shots 😝

Such  a great video for a channel with so few videos. Keep up the fantastic work. 🔥

You earned a sub for that very intro alone , love it man

41:03  If you take a closer look , you can see that Leon was already heading towards that trap . So if Ashley didn't cough up blood the second time , thinking she was gonna turn , resulting in a panic attack and running ahead . Leon would have gotten trapped instead . Plus by doing that she managed to avoid getting captured too early by those bugs and came back with a handful of items , including a Keyitem .

In the remake she dropped Leons knife and later you find her chilling on a couch , no enemies or traps whatsoever .

Is that ludwig boss fight soundtrack from the BLOODBORNE DLC ???
