I was at this concert! :-)
In German "Menschenmühle" also has the connotation of "Fleischmühle" ("flesh mill"), which translates to meat grinder. This makes the title even darker. My personal favorite from Kanonenfieber is Waffenbrüder ("Brothers in Arms"). That song hits differently for me since it gives the war a more personal note.

Thank you so much for your reaction and your thoughts. I saw Kanonenfieber live yesterday in Wiesbaden, Germany. I'm still completely blown away. Kanonenfieber has been my absolute favorite band ever since I discovered them over two years ago. Their songs evoke such strong emotions in me. ❤‍🔥🔥🤘🕊

It adresses the kaiser, who takes his share in the events. Hes actualy a very tragic figure.

Really love the "speeches" they put in some Songs. They are the heroic, noble speeches of politicians coming from the line of kings and emperors, the top percent, talking how noble the war will be and what a good thing it is to serve the land and all that...and then hardcut to blast beats and screams about the horrors, the senselessness of the individuals from the lower parts of the society that have to fight the war in the end. (to quote: "Kaiser zieht und Bauer stirbt!") [to translate it to the chess allegory they're making: The king makes a move and a pawn dies.] 11:00 Oh, you get there, too, was too fast with my thoughts xD <3
Nice contrast setting the tone.
And the refrain once again clearly shows their stance towards the topic WW1: No glorification, no Great Reich but madness and murder all around.

It’s really tragic, but it needs to be told that war is terrible. It’s so sad that we still live in a world were politicians wage war and the poor and vulnerable are always always the first inline to be annihilated.

Du bist richtig Gut und hast es sofort verstanden, Krieg bringt nur Tod und Leid.

If you want to listen to a calmer Kanonenfieber song then check out either Als die Waffen kamen or Verscharrt und Ungerühmt both are played on an acoustic guitar

also Grabenlieder is a a great song about the horrors of the trenches

Konenenfieber is about the horrors of the 1st World War, their other project Non Est Deus is about the absurd history of the christian church (Inquisition, witch hunts, flagellation, indulgence, etc.). Also worth checking out (their new album Blessings And Curses will be released on 3rd of april).

The leaders waging war today were all taught about its horrors, but they couldn't care less. It's really disturbing that such people so often find their way up to highest positions of power.

@andyphelpsfishingvlog9681 1 month ago

the intro speech is kaiser wilhelm, the german leader at the time

This is a great analysis, Phoebe! I flew from Denver to Bamberg to catch their last show and it was absolutely amazing!

Music from the German Imperial Rich in World War One.
This Band is fantastic.
My grandfather was Navy Soldier with 16 years on Board from the S.M.S. "Blitz" ("Lightning").
S.M.S.= Seiner Majestät Schiff.
In English= H.M.S.

Since no one mentioned them already, also try out 1914! They are similar but with a way darker tone. It's also WW1 blackened death, from ukraine. The newest album "Viribus Unitis" is one of the best albums ever produced.
There is also one clip where Noise and 1914 are on stage together.

Noise, the man behind both Kanonenfieber, Non Est Deus and Leiþa is a GENIUS and one of the next big things in metal! The other being the EXCELLENT band Gaerea.
