The surgical gloves are off for part 2 of my (friendly) debate with urologist Dr. Speir! In this video, we continue our discussion comparing vasectomy vs. tubal ligation —and which partner should get the snip.
This time, I deliver the one-two punch in the case for tubal ligation: patient readiness, reversibility, and the potential to get valuable information during the procedure. The most effective procedure is the one that happens… and the woman often needs less persuasion to have it done! In the event of unforeseen life events, tubals have a good rate of reversal success, and unknown conditions are sometimes discovered during laparoscopy.
