At about 17:40, Jack mentions Van Slyke is from Utica, NY and Tim adds that Lemke also came from there. Then, the two of them proceed to fire off about 5-6 Wikipedia-style fun facts about that town. Without internet access at their fingertips (or a spotter to pull that stuff up quickly), how in God's name did they just impromptu their way through such specific information about a small, semi-obscure city in upstate NY that isn't really known for anything significant? To be able to just cough that up in the 1st inning of the series like they're reading from a Fodor's Guide is some impressive flexing on their part even if it wasn't terribly interesting information.
Things get even weirder when both go silent only seconds before Van Slyke squares up a Glavine meatball over the RF wall. Like...literally silent, and with zero play-by-play of the HR. Jack waits until Andy's staggering into the Pirate dugout before chiming back in with "everyone including our viewers knew it." That's some heavyweight broadcasting they're not gonna teach you at Syracuse's School of Communications...which incidentally, is only about an hour down the NY State Thruway from Utica, NY.

Thanks so much for posting these games from the '91 Championship Series. Remember like it was yesterday. Can it really be true that 26 years have passed?
