We were completely UNPREPARED for Ishaan's boarding school scene
in Taare Zameen Par (Like Stars on Earth)! Watching 8-year-old
Ishaan Awasthi (Darsheel Safary) being separated from his family
and sent to boarding school absolutely DESTROYED us emotionally.
The fear, the silence, the depression — Darsheel Safary's
performance is one of the greatest child acting performances
in Bollywood history!
Directed by Aamir Khan (who also stars as art teacher
Ram Shankar Nikumbh), Taare Zameen Par (2007) tells the story
of a dyslexic child misunderstood by everyone around him.
Also starring Tisca Chopra as Maya Awasthi (Ishaan's mother),
Vipin Sharma as Nandkishore Awasthi (Ishaan's father),
and Tanay Chheda as Rajan — Ishaan's only friend at boarding school.
