The weirdest things we found hiding in our galaxy.
The Astrum book is still available in the US! Get your hands on one here: https://astrumspace.co/

This Astrum supercut is a complete guide to the Milky Way. We’ll dig into the weirdest discoveries in our own cosmic backyard, reveal the mysterious structures hiding at the galactic centre, and find out what our home galaxy really looks like. If we can map galaxies billions of light-years away... why is our own home still such an enigma?

To those returning and new to the channel: This video is a supercut of Astrum’s best videos about the Milky Way, plus new and updated content. We’ve edited this into a new seamless video, remastered in 4K resolution, and re-recorded the older voiceover to match the quality of the recent episodes.

Damn - another supercut rerun 🤨. Maybe channels are doing it to meet algorithm upload quotas?

I don't think for a second in my life I thought "oh yeah, I got the milky way galaxy all figured out."

Imagine discovering something like the non thermal filaments around the galaxy and the current technology is not yet capable of studying them any further and you have to wait years for a new observatory to be built. This would drive me insane the entire time it took to study it further

They change the title every 20 minutes for the algorithm so I keep thinking it’s another new video. I’m saving video this for my bed time 🎉

The strange part about the Milky Way’s center is that the closer we look, the less “empty space” it feels. We keep finding something unexpected hiding behind all that dust and chaos—almost like the galaxy has been keeping its most interesting secrets in the one place we can barely see.

This compilation is just packed with interesting information. Alex thanks for having the crew assemble this. 🌌✨🕳️

My mind hasn't been blown about Galaxy facts in a while, but learning that we've merged with 6-7 dwarf galaxies and that we're in an active galactic merger with Sagittarius, was so much cool information to learn in just a few minutes.

I love everything about your videos. Thank you. The long form, the calm but happy voice, the great visuals and the topic.
My favorite part is how fast we move and how brief is our life and how tiny we are and how vast things we can still learn. We are capable of such huge things! I warningly love being a tiny part of it all. I live being made out of stars! I love seeing life, the neighbors children playing, the birds outside eating from my feeders and bathing in my bird bath. All the material things I hold dear are never as important as these.

Thought this was a new 90 Min banger. But yet another supercut.
Thought Astrum Extra was for supercuts...

This is so fascinating! Space is truly infinite

the cosmic filaments at the galactic center just blow my mind

A galaxy is like a molecule. stars are like atoms, and planets are like electrons. only the dimensions are much larger.

@BeyondCosmosUniverse 2 days ago

right at the exact gravitational center of the milky way sits an object packed with about four million solar masses Sagittarius A* the supermassive black hole.
informative video
Astrum is widely considered a good and engaging YouTube channel.

Everything is already there. It's just like our thinking and understanding those have been changing and upgrading over course of time.
Great video compilation Astrum❤❤❤

That was cool!!!

Actually, I would have thought that the existence of micro quasars should not have been surprising at all. It seems that the absence of such would have been much more startling.
