Hey everyone! I wanted to quickly address the concerns about the electric eel DNA in Scylla, as I've already received a few comments about how she might fry herself with electricity (I'm guessing because of the amount of hybrids in Goji Center's Hall of Shame that were disqualified because of the inclusion of electric eel DNA).

I understand the concern about Scylla potentially harming herself due to her Electric Eel DNA, but let's address this with a few key facts about how electric eel electricity works that show she would most likely be fine:

1. Electrical Organs Are Far from the Brain: Like electric eels, Scylla’s electrical organs are located far from her brain and other vital organs. Near the tips and bottom halves of her tentacles. This placement allows her to direct the electricity outward, effectively avoiding self-electrocution. The electrical organs are not in direct contact with any critical internal systems, meaning there’s no risk of her shocking herself.

2. Specialized Nervous System:
Electric eels have a highly specialized nervous system that controls their electrical discharges, and Scylla’s system would function similarly. The neural control over her electricity ensures that her brain doesn’t inadvertently trigger a discharge inappropriately. Just like in electric eels, this specialized nervous system allows Scylla to produce electricity in a controlled, safe manner, without risking harm to herself.

3. Insulating Tissues and Ion Channel Adaptations: Scylla’s body would have insulating tissues, much like the protective layers once again seen in electric eels. These tissues prevent the electrical charge from affecting her internal organs. In addition, ion channels in her cells regulate the flow of electricity safely, ensuring that the current only flows in the right direction and does not harm her own body.

I'm guessing most of the hybrids disqualified from using electric eel DNA in the hybrid war were due to a lack of explanation on how the electrical charges would work without causing self-harm, as well as the impracticalities of adapting electric eel electricity to function effectively in air.

3:43 while I won’t deny that vex has echo location, it won’t be as good as advertised because her skull shape is wrong. Baloogas and sperm whales are so good at echolocation because they have extra fluids in the brain case (hence the bulge) that increases the effectiveness of echolocation, but vex has a pointed face closer to a dolphin and probably as effective echolocation.

I will say there is a floor with scylla having a complex nervous system will make having electric eel DNA heard itself much more, but it is a really cool hybrid

Splendid creature, I'm actually making my own aquatic hybrid, called Goditto Sr (yeah I'm not very good with names), from what I was able to get done, it's a sea sponge hybrid which will serve not as a competitor, but a deterrent from Vex if she reaches the reefs. I mostly made it as both a joke and a challenge, mostly in the success of my wonderful son, Goditto Jr. Anyways, here's it's current genome, hope you enjoy it

-Toxic touch of latrunculin
-Ability to grow in tight spaces

-Freshwater adaptations
-Algae in their cells allows for photosynthesis via endosymbionts

Incredible! I love how Scylla looks with the dark blue, black shell, and bioluminescence. After watching the Goji Center hall of shame video, you might have the first electric eel hybrid that doesn't fry itself. I already made my own squid hybrid, Pyke, a while ago and we actually used some of the same species. Gotta love that limpet! Mine is more of a stealthy assassin as opposed to the electrical bruiser that Scylla is. Hopefully Goji Guyy sees both of our hybrids. Amazing job, keep up the good work!

I have a few problems with this. Given scylla is protected by its shell that means she also has lesser flexibility being a stiff sea carrot. Vex could easily just avoid the tenticles and attack the other end of the shell, which although is tough, will eventually be worn down and broken with enough bites exposing the soft body underneath. The tenticles I'm not sure but I don't think are long enough to capture it at the other end of the body. And for the electric blast, if the scylla has to make contact instead of discharging from afar that'd be a big problem. Also for the electricity to work you'd also need room and adjustments for the organs in the tenticles. The electric organs of the eel are relatively large and I'm not sure how they'd be compatible with tenticles that also possess cnidocytes as well as the mucus generating organs. I'm not sure such flexible and thin tenticles can accommodate all of these things. I think Alien evolution's cthulu whale is a better solution than this.
