Thanks everyone for the support! Liking, Hyping, and commenting are all great ways to tell the algo my Mortal Shell 2 content is worth putting in front of folks, and a massive thanks to all of you who do any of those things.

I'm noticing, despite explaining it at the start, that the term RETCON might not be as well understood as I thought 😂

So here is the dictionary definition for RETCON: "The act, practice, or result of changing an existing fictional narrative by introducing new information in a later work that recontextualizes previously established events, characters, etc."

That doesn't mean its a bad thing, or a good thing for that matter. It's just something added later that recontextualizes an established event. So YES, William being added to Eredrim's backstory in Mortal Shell 2 is a retcon. It also happens to be a retcon that I like.

Tiel and Genessa's lore is still my favourite! Love your video, it's so awesome seeing how the lore connects between MS1 and MS2, it was all so confusing 😅 especially Eredrim

The shell memories seem to be set before MS1. Tiel's memory shows he has his face still intact. By MS1, the majority of his face has rotted away

Finally!

In terms of the returning characters, Eredrims memories in the second game give context to his thoughts in the first game where we hear his thought at his final moments in the second game we see what really happened. As for the genessa we see in MS2 its decima (10th) has the individuality before genessa became what she is, its her that's pissed that the foundling died and she's the one that misses tiel, although since they are all genessa i guess prime may love him to a lower degree. Harros is strange because all shells were removed from the tower but harros was taken to marrow keep to be "prepared" as genessa primes instructions, its probably why he could move independently to help the second child.  Eredrim is found stabbing a malformed offspring, tiel is in a shallow grave (10$ say this was genessa prime's doing). Decima isnt given the whole story of from the original, shes also the only one we see is social, i really want to know what happened to Genessa tertia though.

New videos on this channel is the main content I await since release of Mortal Shell 2!

There are so much new lore bits, dozens of notes (some very coherent and descriptive, while others vague af) those hard to sew together without playing first game myself (only watching letsplays and your videos), and even if you played it, I guess.

The world of Falgrim/Fainweald/Kingdoms of Mammon clearly mutate a lot since the arrival of both the first Seeds + from the Undermethers fiery descent (and Foul Passenger flavor), cause in the memory of the pierced knight's helmet in one of the dungeons we clearly see normal medieval siege in the times of early Mammon almost without any monsters/mutants. And I still don't know, did devs use spiked fatty as just a reuse for the last enemy in that memory, or as a clear indication, that the fellow men of the same race, as Lazlo and Egon (and I guess their mother), had already been corrupted by Foul Paasengers juice, making them horrible masses of guts and spikes. Because we see them normal in the first and fourth (tho dead in the last) memories of Lazlo.

Also, the book in one of the collapsed wall/bridge sections the south-west part of the Mammon describes the history of the founding of Mammon after the Falgrim met the annihilation after Undermethers descend. And I guess that our map ingame is reversed, cos the North mentioned in that book is clearly the South of our map. Why?..
So many questions.

The worldbuilding attracts me more in this part, than shells stories even (not all, cos Genessa and Saruel are VERY IMPORTANT for this world), and I will be very happy man, if you consider making lore videos about the setting iself: the history of current state of the place (it's literally teared to pieces through Undermethers fall), different factions and their relations to each other (Flesh Acolytes, Children of Infinity both cults above and underground Monolith folovers), Mammon royalty, alchemists (Saruel was not the only one?) and others), the fauna and its mutation via Foul Passengers corruption, etc.

And if not, the video about Saruel and his effect on the world will be my most anticipated among the shell's lore ones.

Great video! Will you talk about the whole corruption, dark passenger thing? We can see corruption spilling from the heart of Vatra!

Good stuff

Mm tastee time. Will have to go check out the vid for the first game cause it's been quite a while.  Been really digging this sequel, though a part of me feels like I've grown too strong with the obsidian hammer at +15.

Have really enjoyed learming that we are a maybe  alien ghosty instead of just a regular ghost guy lmao

I didnt see Eredrim's story as a retcon in MS2, though? To me it made sense? Even with the addition of William, it still aligns.

His name is Willam

I get that she was kind of side content, but sister was a nice motivating piece. The harbinger, other than technically saving his brother's and sisters in the ovum, lacks that motivating punch. He makes friends, and is shown to have a kind worrying side and morals with our great Frogga and vlas, but there is a lack of an underlying punch.

The Undermether and beings like her are really evil? Or rather the need to worship and yearning for meaning is the constant of all life in the cosmos the moment they evolve sapience and they fill that niche?

I do not see any recons, expanding on existing lore is not recon. For teil both are true, it further expands on his decision. This is not a retcon at all.
