The password story is the most insane astronomical feat of coincidence that struck the video game industry

I met Allen in basic training at Fort Benning, GA.  We did infantry training together.  He would always be reading books.  He left there and became an Airborne Ranger.   He must have had a two year deal and was very smart so they gave him that contract.  The school money he had was probably from the army.   I did 3 years and got stuck into the gulf war taking prisoners lol.  I went on to drive a truck up in Boston and he went on to found Blizzard.

5:50 Swapping games for those of you don't know, makes the developers no money, same goes for renting, and selling it on the secondary market. Quite a number of Game Devs and Publishers see it as a light form of piracy which is why he said "Just between us and the audience". I'd argue being able to rent out, sell, and share gives old game a great deal of its value and people could tolerate the $60 which is like $130+ back in the days. The market dynamic is why you often see "anti-consumer" practices like Always Online, DRM, and limited download codes.

Man, maybe if allen never left do you think Blizzard would shift to current day situation?

What a genius he is - passionate player, skillful engineer and such a smart businessman

Great interview, interviewer and interviewee

Weird, just got through my subs feed looking for videos, after watching something this video came recommended which was odd since i havent seen on my subs feed and the explanation for this was that i wasn't subed anymore to this channel (????)
No, i did not unsub from any grubby channels. Not sure if this happened to anyone else, just fyi i guess

blizzard go brrrrrrrr.   great content sir🎉🎉🎉

Password was probably "incorrect", let's be real.

Manuel Schenkhuizen posts exactly when Im in my free time 🤣✔️

As a current WoW retail player, I can say Blizzard has thrown the issue of complexity overboard. My druid has 50 different hotkeys in Arena (PvP) with macros. Then there are also 10 addons and weakauras that you need. In contrast, Dota is beginner-friendly.

I didn't like this video too much Grubby. It felt to me that for the most part you were focused on making small-talk with chatters. That would be perfectly fine for a stream-only reaction video, while you eat and whatnot. But for a stand-alone youtube video reaction I would, personally, prefer something more insightful, going a bit deeper over the questions and answers, or at least watching it with proper attention paid to the video instead of to the chat. Don't take it too harsh, I still appreciate and enjoy your videos, looking forward to the next one!

If I won the lottery, I would go to blizzard and pay them to make WC4

I have been playing warcraft for the past 2 years on mac, now it cant launch on macs, theres a message stating they are aware of this issue but this has gone on for atleast 4 days now. This is not fair and needs to be remedied fast or they need to refund all users the cost of the game immediately. This is not good enough! I take the ladder seriously I play 1 v 1. CAN THE CO FOUNDER DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS?????? rather than doing interviews the co founder should be ensuring the game is working properly or arranging the $$$$ for the refund

Try to make it less complex...and then they ruined WOW, I mean look at Reforged it is the definition of over complex and mechanisms that just mash against each other....

Free Russian Warcraft! Bring it back!

Saying hots is way better than dota is just offensive grubby. I know you quit because you're too soft for the community's criticism but come on

Dota is WAY less complicated than Wc3... lol, but I think you already know this.

Allen why did you seeeeeeeeeell T_T

Imagine if Blizzard is still an indie studio that creates the same quality as Warcraft 3 & Starcraft 2... 🥲
