My favourite trade wind set up is twin poles set up so we can gybe the genoa across the poles. We run wing on wing but also set the the jib sheeted in tight on the same side as the mainsail. Its a sail plan that punches above its weight. If you sail at 160/165 by the lee such that the wind is coming over the genoa side, rolling is reduced. We recently crossed from Mindelo to Antigua with that rig set all the way. 13 day passage with 3 reefs in the main for 8 days. Winds mainly 30 to 40kts. Just me and the wife onboard. An easy trip where the only sail adjustment needed was to sheet genoa in and out to deal with squalls. An easy job for the on-watch crew.
