"I was not in my best condition.  Today I put him in the hospital.  Next time I'll put him in the morgue."

Just brutal, lol.  Thank you for this!

I’d just turned 16 when I caught this fight on tv and I hadn’t heard of Duran before and when I saw him with that haircut and demeanor and unbelievable energy and charisma I was blown away.

Duran at this stage of his career was unstoppable, his boxing iq was somethingto behold. A good fight by Lampkin ,going 14 hard fought rounds . Lampkin went down like a bullet hit him, beautiful finish by Duran. Quality work my friend. Thanks mate.👍

Duran looked like he just came out of the Jungle! This era was when he was at his peak.

Roberto Durán símbolo de perseverancia mi estimado Durán grande roberto

Wow this is amazing quality, I’d given up hope for this fight, previous versions have been terrible. Thank you for this.

i love you vintage boxing 60fps

Duran's  appearance and persona reminds me of "Flash's" arch rival "Ming the Merciless"...sneering and hitting with hands of stone.

Thanks for uploading, fabulous quality

Duran said he wasn’t in the best shape for this fight and I think you can tell that a bit in his performance - he certainly looks pretty skinny like he may have overtrained and lost more weight than necessary (he weighed 133 1/2 pounds). But he was still only 23 (nearly 24) when this fight took place and hadn’t filled out fully either. By the end of 1975 when he fought Leonicio Ortiz, he looked a bit more filled out.
Lampkin fought well and evenly for much of the fight and I thought Duran was a little sloppy with some of his countering - just not as sharp as usual. I think ultimately the conditions favoured him and he outlasted Lampkin - the KO of course was pretty terrifying and I never realised quite how bad Lampkin was hurt until I read about his time in hospital. He was very lucky he didn’t either die or come out of there with a permanent injury.

I am not Panamanian, but Duran was, by far, one of the greatest fighters of my era. A real red-blooded fighter. I truly believe he would have wiped out his division in today's world.

OOPS!!  This is what I was trying to say.  I'm glad I can understand Spanish well enough to follow fights like this one.  Mexico had its great boxing broadcaster, Antonio Andere.  On this fight, you hear the Panamanian star broadcaster, Tomas Alberto Cupas.  This is one of a very few fights of his in my files.  I treasure the few I have because the man was great at what he did.  You have shared a recording of his which is in excellent shape, or "in good nick" as I've heard British comedians say it. This is rare.  Too many fights from other countries are in rough shape.  This is a real find.  Well done.

I watched this fight on tv.  My first Roberto Duran fight. Ray Lampkin was a very good light weight from Portland Oregon...

Excellent my friend...Duran at Lightweight...in his Prime...thanks for this ...more please

Durán cuando entrenaba era una bestia.

The most vicious and ruthless fighter ever

Great upload Vintage
