Best Picture: STOLEN
Best Actor: STOLEN
One of my favorite scenes (which most people don't comment on) is the one when Ennis leaves Jack for the last time, and Jack's face shows that he knows he will never see Ennis again.

CRASH was a tv movie at best...BROKEBACK had won every film award up to that night...HUGE MISTAKE

Still one of those few films that makes me cry.......

Jake and Heath did a great job 👍 I always cry 😭 when I watch the scene with Ennis in Jack's closet holding the two shirts.

One of The Most beautiful films i've seen . There was not a dry eye in the theater and at the end,  it got a standing ovation by the very evenly mixed cultural audience ... including several non gay families of teens parents and grand parents

I saw this movie in the theater with my wife. i had come out to her about 6 years earlier and I wondered if seeing this movie might help her understand me better. We are still together, 48 years even, my kids know my secret as well as cousins and my siblings and people in the neighborhood. no one seems to care one way or the other. Glad I saw this movie.

To me one of the most empowering scenes was when Jake Gyllenhaal's Jack Twist tells the jackass father in law that if he turns the TV back on again he'll "knock him in to next week!" Who hasn't dealt with someone like that?!

Before my retirement, my company published the Annie Proulx short story. I read it. It was good. But, contrary to most other movies, the film was far better than the source material. Perhaps that’s because of the wide vistas, the incredible scenery…..but, most of all, the extraordinary performances of Heath & Jake. And let’s not forget Anne Hathaway and Michelle Williams. They made the movie what it is.

I was 56 years old when I saw this movie. I purchased it and still watch it front time to time. I fantasized about the beautiful outdoors and a relationship like that. One day I ended up in a ten year secret relationship that was intense and similar except were both widowers. It only ended because he was diagnosed with a fast spreading cancer that took him in less than a month. He was my first male love. I dead devastated. I have someone now who loves me and I love him but it’s different. The last scene with Ennis caressing Jack’s jacket deeply affected me. Even more so now.

As a young gay man in my 30s, when this movie came out, it had such a positive and profound effect on me. I've seen this movie 20+ times over the years. It is a crazy roller coaster ride of emotions. I've never experienced another movie like this since. The actors were most incredible!! I think some of their greatest performances.

Brokeback Mountain opened a lot of people's eyes. The average heterosexual hadn't been exposed to what a same sex relationship was like... until they watched Jack and Ennis.
It opened a lot of eyes to the truths... not only to the  hiding and the secrets... but to the deep emotional connection, and 'real' love these two men experienced.
The world got to see a gay relationship... and it wasn't as strange and alien as they initially expected. During the last scene... when Ennis is in Jack's room... even my straightest friends were  'not crying'.

That clip of Ennis drawing in Jack's scent from his shirt brought tears to my eyes.

I have long maintained that Brokeback Mountain was robbed of its rightfully deserved best picture award.  But another theft that I never hear mentioned is the win for best actor by Phillip Seymore Hoffman over Heath Ledger.  The video delves into the superb work Ledger put into creating the character of Ennis Del Mar.  Hoffman just mimicked Truman Capote.  Ledger deserved that best actor award.

This film had me crying like a baby. To say that it was brilliant is an understatement. The emotional impact on me was as such, that untill this day, I cannot get myself to watch it again. Too many wounds as a Gay man.

The timing of this movie was everything.  We had come far enough that many of us were comfortable in our own skins at long last, many of us no longer felt shame or a need to hide who we were, yet we were still reviled and discriminated against by many, and we still had no marriage rights, we could still be fired for existing.  But we were on the cusp of great change.  For those of us that lived in the world in which these two lived and loved, this movie was a vindication, a validation, and a redemption.  Many that came of age after this movie, came after the end of DADT, came after the fall of antigay marriage laws, came after the development of effective HIV treatment and prevention, they take for granted these wonderful changes.  Many seem to have little appreciation for what we went through, how many died, how many suffered in countless ways.  They seem to have no realization of how fragile this is and how hard and long we had struggled for it.   Because if they did, they would take much better care of it.   The absolute nonsense of the last ten years beginning the day after June 26, 2015 has seriously threatened our hard-won freedoms with backlash by changing our fight from one of equality to one of imposition.  Is it any wonder the pendulum is swinging the other way now.

Agree BBM was robbed of the Oscar for best picture

It is a stunning story about the conflict and pain of a man loving another man. Such conflict over simple love⁰ and homophobia. The self hatred is often never portrayed. A masterpiece.

Were -all-human is on the same page. A suitable bookend to Brokeback Mountain is God's Own Country, with similar themes, but an optimistic ending. Well worth a view.

"Crash" is rarely remembered.

Anyone that watches this movie straight or gay and doesn't see the emotion and humiliation and pain doesn't have a heart. We have all been here in different ways at some point in our lifetime. Some it is hard to admit. Beautiful movie.
