JLC has scaled down the Polaris to 40mm and it's 2,8k or so cheaper than the 42mm. I think they used the chance to "optimise" their pricing again - just like with the new entry Reversos. So, they realised they are too expensive for the market

I don't hate any brands myself; some interest me, some don't. I don't know if they are hated, but there are a number of brands in the £1500-£4-5000 GBP price range that don't get as much attention as I think they deserve, for producing interesting and attractive watches, and at value prices: Stowa, Sinn, Union Glashutte, Doxa, and Oris.

I tried on a Hublot spirit of a big bang last October and it was extremely comfortable and superbly made. I purchased a pre-owned Spirit of Big Bang Chrono (with El Primero) in December. I got it for an amazing price and I'm completely in love with it. It would be insane to buy one at retail but I paid less than half of the retail.

Mike, thanks for - essentially - fighting gatekeepers. Gatekeepers in any form do not protect what’s behind the gate or bring in new enthusiasts; they simply stoke their snobbishness and prejudices, and scare off newbies. And don’t understand the difference between fact and their opinion.

I spent more on my JLC Polaris than I thought I ever would on a watch. Rolex pricing. But I am extremely happy with the watch. I think it beautiful and has some special finishing on the dial. I also enjoy meeting someone who understands what it is.

My issue with Hublot is that most of their watches are, stylistically, ghastly. That's me. Others like them and that's fine, too. The beauty of the watch industry is that there's something for everybody, whether you're talking about a Casio F91W or a Patek Grand Complications.
