The Minamiaso Railway is a 17.7 km third-sector railway connecting Tateno Station (Minamiaso Village, Kumamoto Prefecture) and Takamori Station (Takamori Town). It is well-known as a scenic local line running through the magnificent rural landscapes of the Nango Valley, which is beautifully nestled between the Five Mountains of Aso (Mt. Taka, Mt. Naka, Mt. Neko, Mt. Eboshi, and Mt. Kishima) and the Aso caldera's outer rim.
