I feel bad when I find youtubers like this who have stopped making videos long ago but theyre so good

You literally make the best jazz lessons on youtube.

My first step to acquiring a taste for 𝔽𝕣𝕖𝕖𝕗𝕠𝕣𝕞 𝕁𝕒𝕫𝕫.

I am actually of the second group (want to challenge myself). I can listen to absolutely anything and like it. Jazz is the only form music that I don't understand at all. Like abstract art pieces. People can spend hours talking about it, all I see is someone who had a heart attack with a paint brush.

would really love it if you can analyze a jazz song so we can see what each member actually did :face-fuchsia-tongue-out:

Somebody once said and I believe this is very true, that jazz is about the most intellectually interesting and simultaneously the most emotionally satisfying music.

This is really inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing your perspective. Almost any and everything that I’ve learnt about jazz so far is from your channel. If I’m stuck somewhere I always refer to your meticulously organized videos and I find something that helps me out every single time. Thank you so much once again.

Great perspectives; greatly appreciated!

Brilliant explanation. Well done.

Fantastic video!

Thank you for this lesson, especially for the tip about transcribing solos, and the list of jazz musicians to listen to at the end.

Fascinating!

Super cool video good for everyone.
Thank you so much

Very useful, thank you!

I loved that!!! Today, for the first time, I listened to jazz. I started by listening SEVERAL times to Giant Steps, by John Coltrane. It was EXTREMELY confusing, i didn’t understand anything at all. I will listen again and pay more attention to the soloist and the conversations... but as you said, perhaps I should start with something lighter

Bruh im not a real musician but i just enjoy jazz. There is somethig about it that speaks to me

This is what I tell my friends that I kind of listen to the "shapes of things" in music.  I do all this, but I don't know the actual theoretical notes behind it.  I mean, I know theory, but I'm not listening to the piece and thinking. Oh, he just played that harmonic minor lick there. But I don't have the ear for that or perfect pitch or anything. And I don't think you necessarily need that, but the only way I would know the theory and notes behind it is to study an actual transcription of piece.

Bravo bischero :) great video

Hey man, really great stuff here. Did you ever do a Harmonic Minor modes video the way you did for Melodic Minor? You went through MM chords, as well as what's actually seen in practice. I'd love a round 2 but for HM!

A shame he stopped making these
Come back!
