Omg I’m so sorry I messed up on that skipping the bug story time stamp 🫣 It’s 23:20 you need to skip to

You know what, everyone and their cousin might have done a review for these kits, but so far you have given the most honest reviews on the other kits you've tried so I would trust your opinion more.

Woobles is how I started crocheting. Ive been crocheting for a little more than a year now. I think they're really good for absolute beginners but not worth the price for anyone with basic knowledge. The videos were SUPER helpful as a total beginner. It taught me all the basic stitches, aside from treble stitch, blo and flo, invisible dec and inc, and I got one of the mini kits at the same time and that taught magic circle. I know a lot of seasoned crocheters think amigurumi is not where people should start but I personally think the woobles is great for learning the basics. I feel like more of the price goes towards the instructional videos. However, if you already have the basics of crochet down, the kits aren't worth the price. I think they're the best kits for actually learning to crochet, not the best kits for anyone else

All the Woobles kits come with three safety eyes

I got into crochet with woobles kit, i did my first one, and after I jumped right in to 18” bunny amigurumi. And I’ve been crocheting ever since!!!

I think you were looking at this kit through the eyes of someone who knows the basics already. But as someone who knew absolutely nothing, woobles is a great starting point. I also think it’s targeted towards a younger audience although adults enjoy them as well. Them having the magic circle already done would have saved me so much frustration from trying to just get started. It took many many videos (and hours) to get the magic circle down before I even got to stitching that I almost gave up. I know these kits arent for everyone but for anyone without knowledge these are a great place to start with little frustration.

The woobles video tutorials are the only reason I was able to start crocheting. Including the yarn due to the non splitting and easy stitch visibility. I attempted to start elsewhere and just couldn't find myself enjoying due to the splitting yarn and holes in the video tutorials I had originally tried. The woobles hit all the marks with beginners with explanations and clear visuals . It gave me footing ..and guidance to fall back upon. Step by step with not a beat missed. I needed that since I'm a visual learner. But now I have done some of the patterns I own with non woobles yarn and love it . Also dove in to acrylic yarn making a blanket . Woobles was great as a step into the craft, and the only way I could

Someone else said that Woobles are a good value of you look at it as a course, a way to learn to crochet, rather than as a kit. It’s frustrating because I’d like to try some of the collab kits they have but as someone who doesn’t need detailed instructions, I can’t justify the cost. I like the designs but not that much. They seem like the value is there, they’re well designed for beginners (as much as amigurumi can be anyways), but I’m not that person.

Eeeeek I sent this in!! And my oldest kid and I learned to crochet from the Woobles!

I love a versatile pattern,  but Charlie is a turtle with antennas! Good job trying to be balanced in your review. I didn’t hate the yarn, but never gravitate towards it and patterns I have from their book have turned out great in plush yarn.

A woobles kits is one of the first things I ever crocheted. It taught me to read a pattern and I was able to complete the whole thing in like two days. I’ve been making amigurumi and other projects ever since. I stand by that I think it’s a great kit for someone who is just starting. But if you already know how to crochet it’s probably annoying (I remember I already knew how to single crochet, so there were parts of the videos that were too slow for me)

The velvet roach turned out so cute!

Edit: but you're right though,  it's not really roach-shaped. Like if a roach had a love child with a turtle 🐢 😂

4:30 they always come with 3 eyes in case you lose one of the eyes

I learned how to crochet with YouTube videos and I've never done a woobels kit, but I would say that yes, it's the goal to have zero stuffing show, but in my opinion it's way more important that you actually finish your first project. It's going to be wonky regardless, so I don't think perfection is even part of the discussion.
In that way I would say the woobels do a very good job on getting you exited with the packaging and specialty hooks and stuff so you pusg through the learning curve and have something to show for at the end (even if the stuffing is on display as well 😅😅).
I've been working in a little gecko for my mom for Christmas 🦎

I've been crocheting for a couple years now and I strongly recommend Woobles for beginners if they're more visual learners. I know it's much more expensive than most other kits, but I find the instructional tutorials and beginner support to be heads above other kits and they make it worth it.

The  specific characters cost so much because of the licensing fees over the copyright.

i am someone that tried MULTIPLE time to teach myself how to crochet, and i am a huuge kit lover as far as starting a new hobby! (i regularly teach myself new hobbies ALL THE TIME lol it’s fun and helps with my ADHD) and a woobles kit was the one that FINALLY make it all click for me. i picked one up this past october, and have been crocheting since! they really build you from the ground up when you start, and that was honestly exactly what i needed! i needed someone to hold my hand for a little bit until i understood what exactly i was trying to accomplish, and how. i think if someone already knows the basics of crochet, the kits are not at all worth it. but for someone who can (or likes to) teach themself new skills, it can definitely be worth it.

however, that being said, when i picked up a woobles kit (i got the spooky the ghost one, because i am a tooootal sucker for ghosts!), i didn’t actually have enough yarn to finish my ghost 😬 i ran out of white yarn before i even finished the main body, and i still had to technically do arms as well! and maybe my tension was loose (i was yarn over-ing, but now will yarn under when doing amigurumi), but i would think they would accommodate for that and add a good extra chunk of yarn in there, especially for a beginner! you did mention them not wanting to or not being able to teach back/front loop only, and i will say i actually did learn how to blo/flo when i made my ghost! it was how they set up the bottom of the little ghost so you could make a little frilly edge that’s visible, but also close up the plush itself. i do agree with you that the yarn is TERRIBLE to try and sew with, and is also not my favorite to work with at all, but for what i needed at the time, it was perfect. quality of everything else in the kit was decent, except for the fact that the hook had a cute little “spooky” spiderweb and ghost (iirc) print on it, that did eventually start to peel and chip away, i want to say within the first month?? i lost the hook now (LOL), but beyond that it was good. and i was INCREDIBLY grateful for the metal yarn needle. those plastic ones with the huge eyes are borderline unusable for me!!

tldr; for an absolute beginner, i think it’s good! if you have any knowledge of crochet however, i would personally either pass, or get their book of patterns if you REALLY see one you like in it.

as for what i’m working on! currently just started a textured crochet blanket for a friend who just found out she is pregnant! making a bunch of 6”X6” squares in different stitches, that will eventually be joined together to make a whole blanket! :)

I think I can clear up the chain 2 hole issue…generally when not doing something that starts without the need to close your start stitch you want your slip knot to be done so when you pull the tail it DOESN’T make your first stitch tighter. It’s possible people just haven’t thought about the fact that changing their slip knot will allow them to close the hole.

I make amigurumi, yarn over yarn over and have never had an issue until you mentioned the tight stitches. Now I can’t unsee the tiny gaps 😭😭

I think the reason they have loose tension in the magic ring is so its easier to put your hook in.
