Thank you from Canada for your insight. One thing I believe important to any potential owner is the local dealer. I’m lucky with Volvo here.
On the subject of battery size and range, we’re at a different stage with charging deployment. 800 volt charging isn’t as common, which means you are limited to slower speeds. A larger battery is an advantage but the car is heavier too.
Tire size - on a recent trip to the north, I used our winter rims rather than risk a flat tire from a pothole without a spare. Low profile tires are a liability, made worse by availability of replacement rims or specialty tire sizes.
And finally, technical obsolescence. I have a 4 year old XC40 electric. Volvo recently did some important software updates, which is great. But the computer is over ten years old. The wireless is 4G. When will these brands realize that the cars will still be running in 15 years time, but the computers or wireless reception may not be supported?

I'll change cars soon, and go into car leasing thanks to the benefits package that my company provides. I must say that after looking and comparing around, the only one of these 3 cars that I was able to fit nicely in my specific leasing budget, at least here in Belgium, was the Volvo EX60 P6 in the Plus trim + a the few extras that I considered more nice to have (eventhough the Plus trim already comes very well equiped). I test drove it last week and I found it absolutely delightful to drive and to be in. So much so that I've already put in the order, and I've never been so excited about a new car in my life.

It's depending on indivivual preference.  A glove compament used to be putting CD's and now we don't listen to CD's musics.  To me a compament is unnecessary.  I enjoy your review to compare Ex60, BMW EX3, and Mercedes GLC.  The styling of EX60, especially the head-lights and tail-lights, is simplistic and sleek looking.  Thank you!

I‘ve watched your test of the three cars, and now I enjoy listening to your smart thoughts. I think it really boils down to very individual needs. There are pro arguments for every model out of the three. Volvo has always been a more individual brand, not that loud or screaming „look at me, I am expensive“, and I always appreciated that Swedish understatement. Despite the cons, I am very convinced that the EX60 will be a huge success, at least in Scandinavia. I recently tested the ES90 to check if it‘s an alternative to my BMW i5 touring. The Volvo was great, but somehow the BMW is the better package as a car, not particularly only looking at the electric car specs.

I love driving and keep my cars for 8-10 years. That changes the economics. Your addition of insurance costs was a new valuation criterion for me! I'll have to check the ramifications here in the US.
The comparison for me was between the Volvo and the BMW. Hadn't thought about it Mercedes. Now I shall.
I'm 90% local & 10% 750 mile road trips and I want similar performance to my XC40 over the road.

So in your opinion more screens, HUDs, ambient lights and gimmicks equals luxury/premium. In my opinion, all this makes a car look like a toy car. I think Volvo knows exactly what it’s doing and it’s targeting customers that are sick of all this enshitification of the car industry. More screens does not equal luxury. I sit in front of screens all day long. I don’t need a 65” TV in my car. I don’t need weather info or another gazilions notifications that fight for my attention. I just need it to be quiet, comfortable and show the least amount of “information” during the drive.

Screen and software look competent, but dashboard/drivers display is ugly. The xc models are much more elegant.

Dont get why you compare the smaller Volvo with the bigger batteries in it? yes the price might be similar to the bmw but the P12 is around the same price as mercedes and the more direct competition.
You could improve by putting your numbers on the screen when comparing.

Am choosing between IX3, EX60 and GLC. Have driven 2 previous XC60s and am finally considering the german cars for the wow factor 😅, even when its more expensive
