Before a personal AI companion can have a physical body, it needs a brain that can reason, store memory, and take action in the real world.

In Episode 2 of Project Arturito (our DIY build inspired by Razer’s Project AVA), we are building the agentic brain from scratch and giving it access to my personal Gmail inbox.

I’m Bryan, a software engineer from South Central Los Angeles. My background is in full-stack development, but I’ve always been driven by a simple idea: if I see something cool, I want to learn how to build it myself. Especially if it can make people’s lives easier.

In this video, I cover:

The Stack & Architecture: Why we're using LangGraph for orchestration instead of static scripts, and how agentic routing beats writing 50+ "if/else" rules for messy human language.

Memory & Debugging: Wiring up ChromaDB for long-term vector memory, fixing a session state bug, and adding an OpenClaw-style onboarding flow to lock in Arturito's persona.

Live Email Tooling: Connecting the Gmail API so Arturito can search and read my inbox in real-time (and test it out by finding my latest Wingstop email).

This channel is all about the journey of building. No gatekeeping, just real engineering, trial and error, and the process of bringing concepts to life.
