Many historians, archaeologists, and international researchers have documented that the foundations of the Valley’s remarkable civilization were laid centuries before the Malla era, with important contributions during the Licchavi period and by earlier Newar societies. Newar merchants were engaged in long-distance trade, including routes linking Nepal with Tibet and beyond, while Newar artisans had already developed advanced architecture, sculpture, metalwork, and painting. Historians should do ore research on these issiues creating international values
The earliest Malla rulers are believed to have had origins in the Indo-Gangetic cultural sphere, particularly regions corresponding to present-day North India, although the exact lineage remains debated among historians.
The title “Malla”, meaning “wrestler” or “strongman” in Sanskrit, was used by several ruling families across South Asia and does not, by itself, prove a single geographic origin. The Malla kings inherited this prosperous civilization . Archaeological evidence shows sophisticated urban settlements, trade networks, and artistic traditions centuries before the Mallas.

If the allegations against Pratap Singh are accurate and have been established through credible evidence or legal findings, then the crimes—including rape and child sexual abuse—are among the gravest offenses imaginable. Such acts deserve unequivocal condemnation, justice for the victims, and full accountability. No religious status, institution, or symbol should shield anyone from moral or legal responsibility.
The more important question is a social and psychological one: why do some people continue to revere religious figures, institutions, or symbols even after serious allegations or established wrongdoing become public? This is a legitimate subject for research in cognitive science, social psychology, sociology, anthropology, and the psychology of religion.
Researchers have identified several mechanisms that may contribute to this phenomenon, including cognitive dissonance, confirmation bias, group identity, obedience to authority, sacred values, social conformity, and the separation people make between a religious symbol and the actions of an individual associated with it. Studying these mechanisms can help us understand human behavior without assuming that believers are mentally ill.
Religious belief itself is widespread across cultures. However, unquestioningly defending or excusing serious crimes because of religious authority or tradition is a matter that deserves critical examination. Every society should be willing to ask difficult questions when allegations of abuse involve influential religious figures.
If there is credible evidence that a religious leader committed serious crimes, public discussion should focus on justice for victims, transparency, institutional accountability, and preventing future abuse—not on protecting reputations simply because religion is involved.
