Powerlifting meets rarely feel like training in your local gym, and minor atmospheric changes can completely throw off a heavy lift.
Elite lifter Jason Manenkoff walks through a raw bench workout while breaking down the subtle environment, setup, and mental factors that affect maximum effort strength.
Learn how experienced lifters navigate unfamiliar equipment, tight arches, and gym conditions to stay consistent on the platform.
TIMESTAMPS:
00:39 – Warming Up, Shoulder Injuries & Getting Back to Heavy Weight
09:36 – Why Everything Feels Different on Meet Day
13:07 – Training the Bench vs. Just Benching
23:37 – Grip Width, Longevity & Finding What Works for You
28:17 – Building the Back and Accessories for a Bigger Bench
Jason Manenkoff will be on Table Talk October 12th, 2026!
