"So, I'm going to tell you a story about a murder. But first, let's discuss the whole discography of the murderer's band in detail." - that's why I love these videos.
Very thorough and detailed as always; great content of all things extreme metal on this channel. Also, I recall the rotten website and yes, very gruesome, gory material there.
Dude clearly needed help long ago. Rotten was dope and Goatlord's Reflections is one of the pinnacles of Death/doom. But the commonality you pointed to with these actions is often people feeling purposeless and lacking strong community/connection. I think it's a good potential highlight of how something, band or sport or whatever, can be what grounds someone but can also be a source or instability if their identity is to wrapped into one thing that can be dissolved.
I bought the NWN reissue of the Demo Reh from Moondog Records in Las Vegas, and the store owner was telling me about how he actually knew Joe and went to his house a few times. He also told me that the record I was buying was from his (the owner's) collection, and that it was given to him by Joe, so there's a good chance that the Goatlord vinyl I have was in Joe's possession at some point
