Massively underrated film. It’s a really well made film. Extremely violent, but highly authentic to the source material. It’s not just Karl Urban, it’s the entire cast. Olivia Thirlby is great as Judge Anderson, and Lena Headey is very scary in her scared makeup.
Karl Urban's portrayal of Dredd is pitch perfect and miles better than the Stallone version. This definitely is the best version of the character to date You can tell he is a force to be reckoned with. The final scene between him and villian Lena Headey Mama is one the best endings ever made capturing a more truer version of the comic character.
Karl Urban "insisting on Dredd not taking his Helmet off", Henrey Cavill demanding "Gerald to be true to the books" There should be a hall of Fame for those Actors who have fought for their Charcters. Hey Minty how about a Top 10 of that?!
What i appreciate about Dredd the most is its an actual movie. Its not designed to be a cinematic universe, its not trying to redefine an existing IP for a dumbed down audience, its not CG destruction porn. Its just a nice encapsulated and immersing adventure with interesting characters. It reminds me of 80's and early 90's movies.
It's so UNFAIR that this action masterpiece was so underated. One of the best action films of all times, visually very artistic and with excellent performances. This totally would have been a trilogy, with a different mission in each movie, developing and deepening the characters...
This movie is an absolute masterpiece. Perfect cast, perfect atmosphere, it all worked beautifully. I still rewatch often, and it blows me away every time ( and then I put on the 2 Raid movies after, because its a hell of a triple feature, lol). Karl Urban isn't wrong on the marketing: I had no idea this movie even existed until it came out on home video. Still blows my mind that it never got the sequel or initial box office it deserved
I can say without any hesitation that Dredd 3D was the best 3D movie I have ever seen in theaters. The combination of the Slo-Mo effects with the 3D made it far more beautiful and realistic then any other 3D movie I have ever seen. Far better than the Avatar movies.
I was absolutely stunned to learn that "Momma" was played by the same actress that played the evil queen in "Game of Thrones". What a performance! Speaking of performances, Karl Urban is the only actor in the world who could do justice to a remake of "Dirty Harry".
My best bud once said of Karl Urban "He's a better actor from nose to chin than most actors are from head to toe" referring to not just DREDD, but many other productions Karl's been in
