If anyone has read Jennette McCurdy's book, her and Jackie Cooper's stories are very similar: seen as good criers, manipulated to make them cry, the showers with female family members, the sick mother. The abuse will never end as long as children are allowed in this

Turns out Hollywood's always been filled with people who belong on a registry...Some things don't really change.

Seeing the movie clips with Jackie crying knowing he was actually sobbing makes it so hard to watch

The idea of him being tortured with the idea of his dog being killed made me cry. I'd be devastated I can't imagine how it would affect such a young child.

Disney won't acknowledge Bobby Driscoll's legacy and how they absolutely ruined that kid.... but they'll still use his voice recordings whenever necessary, like in their 2023 short film Once Upon a Studio. Fuck that company.

Jackie was only a little boy but his face looks so much older than his stature, probably all the stress and abuse. These poor kids

What pisses me off the most is that fact that Disney TO THIS DAY mock Bobby Driscoll. They used him in 2022s 'Chip n Dale; rescue rangers' , basically taking what actually happened to spin him into a villain. I loathe Disney

Don't forget the situations in the movies that they put Shirley Temple in. She was always in those very short baby doll dresses and she used to be sitting on men's laps constantly. She also says in her autobiography that she could feel men when she did that if you know what I mean.

“Mother’s sacrificed their children, while their father’s watched with jealous hate filled eyes.”

Poor Jackie Cooper. That's traumatizing. He must have not trusted ANYONE after they pretended to kill his dog. Wtf "audiences wanted to see him cry" so messed up. 😣

Today I learned about the concept of "boy wives" as a trope. Fuck Hollyweird.

The question you asked toward the end..."Is child stardom a form of abuse?" Poignant and profound. This is an excellently done essay.

JACKIE COOPER wrote a book about his experience.
“Please Don’t Shoot My Dog”.
📻🙂

Bro.  They made the child think they shot his dog just to get a realistic performance... holy shit man.  I bet you they would have really shot it too, if they needed to.

When I was a kid I really, really wanted to be an actor. This was in the late 90’s/early 2000’s, I remember seeing the guy who played young annakin skywalker in the phantom menace and thinking “I want to do what he does.”.
I begged my mom to take me in for some kind of audition, and she always said no. She insisted on it, she wouldn’t let me act. Always said, “do it as an adult, but you’re too young now”

I am an actor today, and indeed, she was right. It’s not a child’s world, at all, I’m glad she protected me.

holy shit Bobby's story is so depressing, used abused and discarded all his life.

Child stardom, especially with MGM and Disney seems to be a ticket straight to trauma and abuse. This video is heartbreaking but I can tell you put in a lot of work. Thank you so much 💖

Found dead in a dirty cot in an abandoned building 😢😢😢😭😭😭

Poor Bobby  I will never be able to see Peter Pan and not think of him . So sad he deserved love and protection.

I cried when I learned about Bobby Driscoll because the moment I saw him I recognized him even though I haven't thought about peter pan in forever. I had no idea he suffered so much and this is an awful waste of life because of what he was put through.
