After spending 2 months in Hanoi, we think we have a pretty good idea of what it’s actually like to live here — not just visit for a few days.
Hanoi is famous for its incredible food, cheap coffee, fascinating culture and relatively low cost of living. But could we see ourselves actually living in Hanoi long term?
In this video, we're looking beyond the usual Hanoi tourist attractions and sharing our honest experience of living in Hanoi, Vietnam.
We'll look at the things that matter when you're considering living somewhere, including:
💰 The cost of living in Hanoi
🍜 Food and eating out
🏠 Accommodation and where to stay
🛵 Getting around Hanoi
☕ The incredible coffee culture
🌡️ Hanoi's weather
🚦 Traffic, noise and everyday life
❤️ What we love about Hanoi
🤔 What we DON'T love about Hanoi
🇻🇳 And ultimately… could we live here?
Because we've spent two months in Hanoi, we've experienced the city in a very different way from a short-term tourist. We've had time to settle into a routine, discover neighbourhoods, eat like locals, deal with the traffic and experience some of the realities that you don't necessarily see on a typical Vietnam holiday.
If you're thinking about living in Vietnam, moving to Hanoi, retiring in Vietnam, slow travel, long-term travel or simply wondering what it's like to live in Hanoi, we hope this gives you a realistic look at the good AND the bad.
Would you live in Hanoi? And if you've visited before, could you see yourself living here? Let us know in the comments! 👇
