For almost thirty years, a few dozen Apache held off two nations — and the army that finally beat them admitted it could never catch them in a fair chase.

This documentary traces how a people who came down from the far north turned the harshest deserts and mountains on the continent into a fortress. From the brutal childhood training that forged the body, to why they used the horse as a disposable tool instead of a lifeline, to the tracking, water-craft, and evasion that let them disappear at will — and on through Cochise and the broken flag of truce, the scalp bounties of Sonora and Chihuahua, Victorio, Nana, Lozen, and Geronimo's last stand against thousands of soldiers. It ends with the only thing that ever worked: not defeating the Apache on their land, but tearing them away from it.

This channel tells the survival, warfare, and raw endurance of the peoples who mastered the harshest lands on Earth — real history, told like a film. New documentary every week.
