What infuriated me the most was sending the poor cook off to hike through the mountains with fricking appendicitis. They are the type of people who believe that locals/staff are below them.

'Unqualified climbers' -Wilco
How about unqualified leaders who encourage their climbers to keep going hours past the necessary turnaround time!

Smoking a cigarette on the summit of a mountain you (or others, can't remember) needed oxygen to get to because it's in the DEATH ZONE is on another level of madness. Coming from a smoker myself...

Wilco sounds like a delight! Even when phoning his wife, while possibly on his deathbed, he complained. He boggles the mind.

It seems like the indigenous guides and sherpas are the only reasonable people here. Glad to hear their voices

Something about partying after watching a man slide off a mountain doesn’t seem right

@DaciValt 1 year ago

Ngl I was very annoyed to hear that someone said there was no heroes up there, thank god the Sherpa's got the recognition they deserve.

Imagine being so self centered that you dont let a person dying of hypothermia into your tent for no good reason

@Mirozenx 10 months ago

I can't believe how selfish & arrogant Wilko was... unbelievable

Imagine being willing to let someone die exposed to the elements when you have room in your tent

This man should be held partially accountable for the events that transpired

Everyone's death was a tragedy but I feel particularly upset when porters and sherpas die. Jehan Baig's death felt so unnecessary in all of this, I wish they hadn't tried to move Dren's body. The audio footage captured of that moment is harrowing

Wilco seems like a real-life villain

You would have to be out of your mind to be on the same team as Wilko.
The guy would instantly abandon you, the moment you were in trouble and make up some fake story later

The Irishman "Ger" was also one of the heroes, he alone stayed with the koreans for hrs and was the one to eventually free them then died tragically from an avalanche

"He said no one from his village had died on K2, so he was feeling pretty safe."

Ever statistician screams uncontrollably

Who else is pissed off at Wilco. He's consistently looking down on others and mostly unhelpful

@stevqtalent 11 months ago

if i was a mountaineer and encountered wilco at base camp i'd turn around. he seems like the kind of guy who'd push you down the mountain so he can summit first.

Someone saved wilko from falling and dying but Wilko was prepared to let a man die not letting him in his tent when he was in trouble.

@luciad5988 1 year ago

Ger sounded like one of the best people you could meet. What a tragedy.

There are heros and villains everywhere, including mountaneering. I can't believe someone would deny them space in their tent, knowing they would die if they remained outside.
