The Japan Airlines Flight 123 crash, the world's deadliest single-aircraft crash, claimed the lives of 520 people. Among the victims were 22 foreigners. One of them was Ward Warwick, an American who was 26 years old at the time. He came to Japan in 1982 as an exchange student at California State University. Jason, who studied Japanese at Waseda University and was an English conversation instructor for JAL at the time of the accident, was studying abroad with Ward and now appears before a television camera for the first time. He identified Ward's body at the time and kept his memories to himself after returning home. He climbed Mount Osutaka for the first time, fulfilling a promise he had made 40 years ago with his friend.
