Before Ashoka became an emperor, he was the viceroy and prince of Taxila, one of the many sons of Bindusara. During a period of turmoil, he learned to create and use scripts and languages that could communicate with people both near and far, including commoners, within and beyond his domain. He later spread the message of peace through Buddhist practices, even though he had earlier been influenced by Jainism and the merchant community’s values of non-violence and vegetarianism. As he transformed these principles into laws and governance across a vast empire, the devastation of the Kalinga War led him to reflect on his actions and change his approach. His commitment to peace and dharma was recorded on stone as edicts, allowing his words and ideas to be remembered to this day.

Interesting that Greek art reached Gandhara through the Bactrian kingdoms. Do we know if local sculptors were trained by Greek workshops or just copying coins and imported pieces?

The Buddha explicitly stated that his followers should not idolize or deify him, nor did he want his likeness to be worshiped. Despite this clear intent, many Westerners attempt to hijack Buddhism and rewrite its history, molding the religion to fit their own Western values and cultural perspectives.

Every book written during the 1800s and 1900s mentions that the Buddha was born and lived in Sri Lanka. However, Western conspiracies have attributed this to India instead. In fact, more evidence regarding the Buddha is found in Sri Lanka than in India. Even today, all of the Buddha's relics are in Sri Lanka—how is that possible? Did India just hand them over to Sri Lanka on a silver platter? 😅
