Man Will asks great questions, helps a lot with understanding things

Will: "I'm gonna call him Neal"

Larry, Darryl and Darryl: "am I a joke to you"

"Neel" is the hindi word for the colour Blue, So the name fits

Is it just me, or has Matt forgot he's on a show and is just like "wheeee, painting!".

I mean, I don't blame him cos Wheeee indeed; Painting!

but it's funny cos I'm used to presenters 100% focused on the camera and maintaining a dialogue.

But this is nice too :)

I wanna see Matt paint more minis!!!

Matt Mercer = Bob Ross of DnD AND minis!

I actually liked that blue color more

Me at the beginning: "I've been doing this for 30 years! Why would I watch this?"
Six hours later: ::eats popcorn, bleary-eyed and enraptured::

I was always taught by my art teachers "When you get tired of working on it, you are done". Not physically tired btw, but mentally (although, when you get physically tired you should be done for the day/time being. Otherwise you will end up making mistakes).

as someone who grew up outside of cincinnati, i'm pretty sure i've seen neal out and about

Matt's like, "im gonna go on here as much as possible, its a job related reason to paint minis" and i love it.

I made a list(based on the videos) on what you should buy.
X-Acto knife: For removing the extra plastic.

Primer: You can use Spray primer or specific miniature primer. If you use spray primer remember to do it outside.

Priming brush(Could just get a paint brush kit just need a thicker brush): Just getting the primer on the model.

Pick Your Paints!: “Hello, I’m Mountain Stone.”

Detail Brush: very thin, very dangerous.

Buy a paint brush disposal cup: get a fun cup for your brushes... “Mountain Stone here, just a reminder not to drink out of the brush cup.”

Washes: water and ink base mixed.

Do add things if I forgot, happy painting everyone.

On the question of when are you done painting, and deciding it's "good enough", I would add that a difference to some other artistic hobbies is that miniatures are usually so small and inexpensive that pretty soon you will have a lot more waiting to get painted. And every extra hour you sit and fiddle with details striving for perfection is time you could spend on the next one instead. Assuming your goal is using them for gaming primarily and not creating masterpieces.

I'd pretty much do almost anything to have a one on one painting session with the great Matt Mercer.

Thank you, Will Friedle for asking all the questions I had!

I need to get back into painting. It's a nice hobby

Personally, dry brushing is my favorite part. It really brings out a cool aspect of the mini 🧐

Happy you put this up on YouTube been wanting to watch this

I am not currently painting minis, but I am drawing monsters. Perhaps soon I will be painting one. I'm supposed to be in a local D&D game soon.

You can actually get some interesting shades by using washes that are a different color than the base coat. For example, one way to do drow skin tones is a blue or violet wash over grey.
