I remember watching all the WWII documentaries with cat girls, robots, and aloha shirt tourists fighting the Germans. I remember that

Listen, you may laugh at it but the Tactical Catgirl saved my grandpa's life as he stormed omaha dual wielding MP40s

The part of this game where a Japanese soldier asks an American IN ENGLISH if he speaks Japanese still makes me laugh

"I shoot nazis. They die. That's my plan."
Ansolutely genius dialogue. Really shows how dynamic and motivated the character is.

Going from World at War to Vanguard is a tragedy.

Though Call of Duty wasn't as historically accurate, their old games used to be persistent in representing WW2 with actual footage and storytelling to make players feel like they are part of the conflict.

Unfortunately for Vanguard, the amount of respect to historical sources is little to non-existent. The depiction of Stalingrad, STG-44s in the Pacific which has become a meme of this game and its pretty much prefers representation over history.

It’s funny how you mentioned the Rad Rifle from Fallout, because that’s literally a Volksturmgewehr with a faraday shield on the front of it

The thing that still triggers me about Vanguard is that on the cover,The bolt on the Sten is BACKWARDS. This means the bolt LEAVES the gun when firing. Like it might HIT YOU. 10/10 IGN:Super Accurate Guns

That and of course: LMG SNIPER RIFLE MG42.

When I've played this game, I just imagine it being a Quentin Tarantino film and then and only then does it slightly make sense.

The thing that sucks most is that alt history and historical fiction are things. If call of duty was just honest then people wouldn’t care. Even better, if they showed stories of the types of people they wanted to show. Red tails? 25th with the Japanese Americans? The last warchief? French forging legion, the fighting in the jungles of Asia with the Gurkhas? Russian snipers? Geez it ain’t even hard.

The Russian girl saying "I shoot Nazis, they die. That is my plan" and the Nazi officer hitting you with a chair WWE style are the moments of all time in gaming

The craziest part about vanguard is that everyone hates the weapons given this specific time in history, yet if you take vanguards wild weapon customization and put it in fallout 4 it's perfect

@Alresu 2 years ago

The "Civilian casualties will not be tolerated" thing has to be the most unrealistic thing in this entire series...

Man this guy is pretty cool, he should have his own website

In WaW you only hear the Japanese speak english once and after that, they even went as far as having some Japanese forces speak in Indonesia because they are forced conscripts they didn't have to go that far but they did and the game is better for it. We could've gotten a gritty campaign that actually made you think but instead we got WW2 A - Team. Wich would've been fine but they forgot to make the story fun and the characters likable

@Phoenix12157 2 years ago (edited)

Many characters were made up yeah, but Lady Death did exactly exist lol. I highly doubt the character they based her off of did half the things they showed in this game though.

@superplatypus1174 2 years ago

My favorite character from this game is the first one you play as, you know, whats his name? The one that dies first and no one cares.

Playing World At War after wtinessing this filth is the ultimate palette cleanser.

@TheDoDoGuy 2 years ago

Remember the devs at new York comic con said these characters will be more memorable than price, soap, and ghost

And to this day no one ever remembers the vanguard characters
