I came out as a trans girl when I was 51, my 73 year old mother made me buy pepper spray and always told me to be careful. She didn’t understand but was always supportive. I love my mom.

My parents reacted horribly. Disowned me outright and told me they never wanted to see me again.

When she’s talking about not finding out the sex of her babies before they were born. “Sam was a surprise twice.” ❤

My mom has be supportive, my dad just thinks I'm playing some kind of dress up. He like ignores my femaleness. But that's fine, he's 85 years old and is set in his ways.

Hello Samantha, I'm a dad of a recent 22 year old  trans woman. I came across your account about 2 months ago. You are so compassionate and kind. You are also very funny. 😊 Thank you very much for what you do for the community. Your mom should be very proud 😊

The story about how she was worried for her marriage, but regrets not trusting her husband was so sad! It must be scary, feeling like you have to pick between your kids and your partner. I'm happy that she chose Samantha over her marriage, but even happier that her husband loved Samantha and was on board.

I think all parents should watch this interview!! I'm not trans, but my parent did not provide me the health, safety, and happiness every child deserves, and I think all parents should be aware that's their job!! Your mom is a great example of a parent adapting to provide her child what she needs to thrive

Your mother is so supportive and understanding! She is a good mom and wants to do well for her children.

She basically said be there for you kid even if it means ending a marriage 😢 what a good mama! I’m glad you have supportive parents ❤

I'm almost 35, and even though I'm married and just talked to my parents last year about my gender and desire to transition, it was still scary. Thankfully, they were supportive. Dad said he definitely always knew I was different, being more masculine than feminine, which was a huge relief. But the thing that hit me like a ton of bricks was that even being so religious, he would never have disowned me or kicked me out. I lived in so much fear in my youth, and it was really healing to hear him say that.

I definitely am sending this video to my mom because she needs it to know she isn’t alone as a mom.

You two are absolutely adorable. As a transwoman myself having family support means the world. I'm glad your parents support you and I hope this video gives plenty of other trans folk and their families hope for a better future. ❤

Your mother is a smart, beautiful, incredibly loving person.  I'm so glad you posted this, and have her for support.  <3

when i came out my parents didnt understand and were confused and scared, tried to convert me and convince me not to transition but they had to get on board eventually and they educated themselves a great deal. i love them and wouldnt ask for any other parents

I straight up just ugly cried just now. My mom died before I had the chance to tell her I was trans (and bi+), but I'd like to think she would have been supportive like Samantha's mom. What a beautiful parent-child relationship! And such a great mom!

More Lux Mother please! This was so lovely. I’m so glad to know there are parents out there like her. 🧡

did she say Sam was a surprise twice? when talking about the baby's genders? That's so funny. this woman is hilarious. I did not expect this to be so touching, but what a sweet and supportive woman person. you know what I mean your mom

We went from "why are are gay" to "please just be gay" 💀
Trans is beautiful be you ✨

I remember when I came out with my sexuality was my dad said "Atleast you're not trans" yeah I was trans lol

I find it so funny when your mom compared trans people to ponies and unicorns.
