Chappel not walking when caught in the outfield by Sneddon in the underarm game was as bad as the underarm ball itself. Shocker! Time means Australian cricket has tried to hide the rest of the one-sided umpiring of the era.

Trevor Chappell and his brother Greg Chappell should be fined a percentage of their match fee

Very nice video, and very surprising outcome, that it popularized NZ crickrt. Great stuff🙂👌

They play by the rules, but not by the ‘spirit’ of the game. That’s the true reason. Sandpapergate was another later example.

When one of your most senior players, known to be an aggressive, abrasive member of your team (West Indies players of the time could testify to his sharp tongue when it came to sledging for e.g.) shakes his head and tells you 'NO MATE' about a decision you are about to make - maybe you should reconsider your next course of action.....

If the captaincy has exhausted you that much, why wouldn't you just resign as captain BEFORE it got to that stage.
There' s no shame in that.

Those umpires were fucking useless, they should have grown a pair and told Trevor Chappell to just bowl it normally.

Greg Chappell in the " CRICKET HALL OF SHAME" .

The closest I've seen to industrial action on a Cricket Field. Given how money has ruined the game now, I think Chappel had some sort of premonition.

I’m always surprised how poorly many NZers remember it. The fact is we were never going to win. But many think it was a 6 to win and McKegnie was a good batter. The thing that annoyed me was Chapple nit walking when Sheron got the catch.

Really disappointed with the way Greg Chappell spoke about this incident. One of the greatest and most elegant batsmen of all time, he's only got himself to blame for forever having his reputation tarnished. Not so much for the incident itself, as he was under enormous pressure on and off the field, and many cricket captains and players do unsporting things in the heat of the moment. The disappointing thing is that he's never held his hands up and apologised and admitted he did the wrong thing. You can never blame a player for following his captain's orders, and the amount of stick Trevor Chappell has had to put up with over the years is very unfair. If Greg Chappell can't find anything other than slightly grudging remorse for what he did, then he can't grumble that there'll always be an asterisk against his name when talking about him as a cricketing great.

For a start the Edgar catch and Sneddon were entirely different. Sneddon would have been given not out based on today's technology. Regarding the underarm incident, I thought that more than 2 bounces (whether urderarm or overarm) was a no ball???? In reference to Trevor Chappell being ostracised, years later, I can rememeber him played in Chiang Mai, Thailand during the international cricket sixes and he was walking hme at night, long after the end of play and Aussies reminded him of the incident????? Says more about the Australians than Trevor. I was just happy to have Trevor in Thailand!!!

Greg Chappell is the Michael Scheumacher of Cricket, will go to any extent to have a dirty win.

It’s just Australians being Australians . Continued with ACB influencing umpires it came out as follows. Ross Emerson is the Australian umpire who publicly accused an Australian Cricket Board (ACB) official of influencing him to call Sri Lankan spin legend Muttiah Muralitharan for throwing -AI.

Shane warne was thrown out of a WC as a drug cheat. Gilchrist used this unique tactic on the advice of his batting coach, Bob Meuleman.The Tactic: Tucking a small rubber squash ball inside his left (bottom hand) glove. He smashed 149 on a WC final to win cheating at its best . Aussies always got away with murder well covered by crooked ACB

Rodney Marsh breaking his bat and the underarm are forever remembered as Minties moments

@terranceparsons5185 11 days ago

I dont see this as cheating, underarm bowling was allowed. Its in the same "its just not cricket old chap" category as mankadding or not walking.

@llewellynGS1 13 days ago

There was no excuse for this. All of Chappels excuses about being tired and mentally pressured fall flat. Last ball, six to get to tie, you just instruct your bowler to bowl a good tight line.
