So Joel started much later than you which meant by chip time he came ahead of dozens of people. The guy behind you also started much later which means his gun time was actually 40 minutes slower.

My suggestion to get on his level is hide in a portipotty, cover your bib, let the van get far ahead of you as they clean up stations, then stroll out of the portipotty far behind the car and just looking like a man out for a stroll
