I Can't Believe This Was a 90s Hit!

Today I'm reacting to Trash Theory's deep dive into the bizarre story of Whale and their 1993 alternative hit “Hobo Humpin’ Slobo Babe.”
Somehow this absolutely insane song made its way onto 90s Modern Rock Radio. But how? And why did it become a hit in the first place?
Let's find out.

I've got two of their albums. I got into them after hearing Deliver the Juice on MTV2.

The voice over guy is mistaken. The European Economic Community formed in the late 1950s. What he is talking about is the EEC becoming the EU.

Still hear this song on the national radio here regularly. Knew the song from the 90's liked it but never really knew the band. Now I know why, Thanks.

The name of the song didn't ring any bells but the song does. I was a teenager back then.

I listened to We Care so much so much back in the 90's, had it on CD and on a tape for my car, fun album, a couple of the song are absolutely filthy though.

Omg, I love Whale and still listen to them I thought no one else remembers them. And hobo humpin slobo babe is not my favourite of their songs. But I do love it

i loved Whale's first album. My favourite songs were the creepy 'Happy In You,' and the disturbing 'I'm Cold.' The second album was rubbish though.

Did you see that Geroge Harrison's Mrs has released a book with hundreds of unseen photos of the band taken by George himself. I hope you have someone to buy you it for Christmas 😊
